WoW Insider Show Episode 54: Not-so of the Shattered Sun
This past week, as we do every Saturday, we sat down on WoW Radio to record the one and only WoW Insider Show (recently chosen by our friend Patrick, we'll remind you, as one of eight podcasts geek gamers shouldn't live without), and results of that session are now on WoW Radio (and in iTunes, where you can and should subscribe to recieve it in the brand new iTunes 8 for free every week). BRK and Duncor joined me, and we chatted about:- How recruit-a-friend has changed the game, when you can now go from 1-60 in just 20 minutes
- Whether it was fair or not to remove those "first to 80" titles -- Duncor especially had a strong opinion on this one.
- And we had a spirited discussion about Achievements -- I'm for them, BRK isn't so much.
- We answered email as well, and we did a live Ask a Beta Tester session, since we were all three in the beta, about Death Knight DPS, what it's been like playing my usually Resto Shaman as Elemental in the beta, and what the Ret Monkey has been up to lately (looks like he didn't actually spec Prot as we'd hoped).
We'll be back on WoW Radio next Saturday again -- if you've never tuned in live to IRC and the live stream, definitely make time for it around 3:30 Eastern, it's a lot of fun, both talking to all the great people in the channel and hearing us spout our thoughts about the World of Warcraft live. See you next week!

Here is my thought Mike. TBC has totally changed the way we play WoW. To say that the Recruit-A-Friend program is changing the overall WoW experience is not so. The current leveling boost from levels 10 to 59 has completely changed the WoW experience. This promotion only supports the change that has already occured. Also, since the benefits end at levels 59, it really doesn't matter. Blizzard is comfortable leaving the Old World behind, you should too.
In regards to the cool title deletions, I can understand both aspects. In my opinion, the reason we can't use flying mounts until level 77 in the expansion is congruent with Blizzard's decision for removing those titles (Though they would have been extremely cool to have). Blizzard is now investing even more into the WoW story (hence the WOTLK cinematic focusing on Arthas's story (not characters) - and with a potential movie on the way...hmmm-just a thought).
Therefore, they want the players to engage the storyline and all of the incidents that are affecting Northrend. They don't want people to mindlessly grind quests and mobs(just to be the first 80 level characters).
Lastly, I think the achievement system is an awesome addition. As you guys mentioned, it can open more opportunities for people to discover what other aspects of the game they can engage. As for me, I am excited about them but I will only attempt what I find to be the most interesting.
Ok...I'm done...
Peace,

I found it quite confusing how one minute, when talking about talent specs you say that the right choice is "your choice" and that people should be free to spec how they pleae and not feel forced to cookie cutter it.
Then on the subject of a title all of a sudden it's a waste of money and a silly thing to do. I think if you like the title and can afford it and simply want it then go for it Mike, don't be put off, it's your character and you should tailor it to your own desires. It's not like you wont be reaping in money questing through Northrend and that there isn't still time to fill your pockets with cash before the expansion if you really want too.
Just go for it if you want it, what've you got to lose?

Mike... stealing that screenshot from a popular tankadin blog? Kinda sad. Go tell Galoheart of Ardent Defender you're sorry and will learn to ask. :P

Hi, Mike. Why is my image in your blog piece? I have no idea what your referring to either.

Because Mike's a prick that has an axe to grind against Pallies or people that play them. Diaf Mr. Co-lead

What exactly is the "axe-to-grind" and how does one grind it by honoring someone else with a mention/image?
P.s/ What purpose does crediting someone serve when their name is in the image?

Does "Not-so of the Shattered Sun" have a particularly positive connotation to you? Would you feel 'honoured' by having your name or image used in such a context?
And what purpose does crediting someone serve? Being polite to and encouraging of a fellow blogger comes to mind. WoWInsider is a huge site now, and as such a little courtesy goes a long way.

I laughed, and than I cried when I read the description for this show over on WoW Radio. BRK is on again, and guess what? We're talking about Hunter Pets. OMG NO WAI, R U SIRIUS? That's all the man can talk about. Of course seeing as how he "doesn't care about any other class".
And people actually listen to an entire show dedicated to this? Really? More so than the WoW Insider Show? Sad.

Dude, you have no idea. We had an entire show about fishing a couple of years back and it got 60,000 downloads.
rosencratz Sep 11th 2008 1:37AM
Presumably your not a hunter yourself then?

Burn.
Duncore makes a joke acting like he's getting attacked by the ret monkey, and Mike's reponse was mentioning how the show isn't the same without Turpster on. There's a nice blow to the ego.
Duncore... I thought it was funny and still love ya.

Nice job, failing to give the author from whom you stole that screenshot credit or a link. Ever heard of common courtesy and/or decency?
