Human racials revised again
Racials received a significant revamp recently in the LK beta. But it looks like they're already dissatisfied with "The Fall of Humanity," a new human racial that basically mimics Hunter Feign Death (but without the threat drop), and will be mostly giving it to Night Elves in the form of a Shadowmeld rework instead. The racial that will be replacing it is called Every Man for Himself, and reads as follows: Removes all movement impairing effects and all effects which cause loss of control of your character. This effect shares a cooldown with other similar effects, such as the PvP trinket.
As Vaneras notes, this now gives you the chance to not equip your PvP trinket, essentially giving you an extra trinket slot in PvP. But isn't this basically an amped-up Escape Artist? Doesn't seem very fair to the poor gnomes. I guess Escape Artist doesn't share a cooldown with the trinket, though.
Even as a PvE player, this will come in handy quite often, I expect. I certainly make liberal use of shapeshifting breaking movement impairing effects on my Druid. And hey, as long as they're not removing Diplomacy like I originally thought, they can do whatever they want with the other human racials as far as I'm concerned. Just let me stay diplomatic.
Edit: Shadowmeld now works as follows: Activate to slip into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence. Lasts until cancelled or upon moving. Any threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect.

I'd personally take diplomacy over any other racial anyday...but that's just me.
Kinda sad to see so many nerfs of changes planned for the expansion now that we're so close to launch.

I support a lot of the beta forum posts that ask for Fall of Humanity (FoH), now Every Man for Himself (EMfH) to be renamed to "Guile of Humanity (GoH)" or just plain Guile. What do you think?

I agree. Just because it's a human racial ability doesn't mean it has to include (hu)man in the name! It's not like tauren's Cultivation got called "Cows Eat Grass".

Heh, of course there are a lot of logical problems with Tauren... like hunters:

Yes, because if there's one animal that's considered weak, it's a bull...

@The comments about Tauren, this is seriously a pet peave of mine.
Tauren are NOT cows. They bear superficial resemblance to cows, but then Tazmanian devils look like gerbils crossed with bunnies and I sure wouldn't want to cuddle up with one! The Earthmother created them the way they are because it made sense. Digigrade legs are capable of much greater speed and jumping power; the horns are a natural defence when you get caught without a weapon, and the general body shape allows for more muscle to be stacked on it. Tauren have sharp predatory teeth, their eyes face forward in the sockets, their digestive system is rather obviously not one of a ruminant since their bodies are shaped differently, their whole society depends on hunting!
Honestly, tauren are cows as much as draenei are goats. You can call them that... and it's funny to do so... but you know that it's not actually true.
Seriously? I'm going to start making macros to 'baaa' at draenei, fling poop at gnomes/dwarves/humans, oink at orcs, and so on. This has gone on long enough.

That is pretty nice. Much better than the FD. Whats the CD on it, is it 5 min like the normal trinket, or is it like the new and improved 2 min one?
peagle Sep 11th 2008 12:43PM
How can you possibly consider this "better" than feign death, given it has no actual threat reduction?
Pakg Sep 11th 2008 12:41PM
I wonder how many human pvpers are gonna still wear the pvp trinket just for the resil?
Fogel Sep 11th 2008 12:42PM
As an avid pvp'ers i find this change to suck in pvp big time... breaking cc if far more important than having an extra slot for stats.. i mean all other class now will have the oppotunity to use a trinket and another pvp racial which often is a + (EA , WOTF , etc)
Its a nerf for Human in pvp...
NAKMAN Sep 11th 2008 1:00PM
HUMANS SHOULD NEVER BE GIVEN A THEIR OWN WILL OF THE FORSAKEN!!! This is total crap. How is it fair that humans gain a HUGE pvp buff while undead get their racials nerfed into the ground? Undead shadow resistance is lower than the Draeni shadow resistance racial (lower than all other racial resistances for that matter), and what do we get for it? underwater breathing ftw?!?! I dont buy it.
How about the Horde get a definite advantage for once... any suggestions???????
Sure i've got tons of suggestions... how bout a horde race that is so freaking small that once they start jumping nobody of the opposing faction can click them. ohhhh and we could make that same race impossible to catch if you ever can click them by giving them a racial that allows instant escape on a rediculously short cooldown
ohhhhhh and maybe we could make the alliance play HUGE FREAKING COWS.
souvlaki Sep 11th 2008 1:11PM
well, at least, WotF is better than being able to run to your dead body faster!
JALbert Sep 11th 2008 1:33PM
@NAKMAN
This shares a cooldown with the PvP trinket. So the undead can still WotF, then pop their trinket. All this does is give humans an extra trinket slot, although it's still hard to make up the stam/resil from the PvP trinket we wouldn't be wearing.
The one thing this DOES make crazy, is low level human twinks. 2 minute CD in 19/29 bracket? WOOT.
Nick S Sep 11th 2008 3:01PM
It's a bloody huge buff, Fogel.
Free PvP trinket, which doesn't take up a trinket slot. Combine that with Perception, widely thought to be a game-winner in Arena matches with Rogues and Druids, and I'd say Humans are pretty darn OP in PvP with the racials they have.
Taytayflan Sep 11th 2008 4:19PM
It's WotF and Escape Artist rolled into one. It's the PvP Trinket, and gives you the opportunity to put a large stam trinket or other useful trinket in the slot and still be able to break CC.
How is this a nerf?
Lemons Sep 11th 2008 4:47PM
first off: wtf is the cooldown on this thing? if it's 5 min then yes it's a huge nerf (unless you're level 12)!
Secondly: So what if we have a racial pvp trinket? If I ditch my epic medallion at this point I'd be losing 45 resilience! And eff this stam trinket crap, in pvp resil > stam! Can you point me to another trinket that gives me 45 resil? I didn't think so.
This racial just makes humans the ultimate twinks. That's the only thing it does. but once you hit 70 (and later 80) The idea just kind of drops off the map and the action bar.
Rod Sep 11th 2008 3:01PM
I agree that diplomacy is awesome, but lets not forget Sword and Mace specialization as well, which is key for human rogues and warriors.
Allok Sep 11th 2008 12:49PM
Does Will of the Forsaken(undead) activate the CD for the BG trinket? This change seems pretty stupid to me. What about the millions of Human characters that have bought there Medallion of the Alliance? what will you say to them when they complain? "Sorry, that, little trinket used to be the most valuable thing you could have in PvP. But now you can throw it away... cuz Humans have it built in."
/bleh
RogueJedi86 Sep 11th 2008 12:57PM
You don't have to equip your PvP trink anymore, freeing up the valuable trinket slots, and you're STILL complaining? Damned if you, damned if you don't?
Scylloga Sep 11th 2008 1:04PM
Whats more important being able to break the cc or just resisting it? Because where I stand it appears the trinket is till better for the stam and resil. Just my 2c tho.
