PvE to PvP paid transfers now available
Ever since paid transfers were introduced, quite some time ago, there has been one very prominent restriction: no transfers from PvE servers to PvP servers. The general reason given for this is that it wouldn't be fair; people who level to 70 on a PvP server have a significantly harder time of it that people who do it on a PvE server, and letting people transfer from PvE to PvP is just going to encourage them to level where it's safe easy and then transfer to go around ganking and raiding and whatever else they want to do. Well, that restriction is lifted: paid transfers from PvE to PvP servers will be available from now on.
Blizzard's stated reason for this is that "providing a smooth and enjoyable experience for all players is always a priority for us," and that these transfers are being implemented "to provide players with more mobility and freedom to easily play with their friends." While these are valid reasons to a certain extent, I still think this will be pretty unpopular with players on PvP servers.
[thanks, Nega]

And this is a problem why? A lot of you are complaining but I really don't see any reasons besides "It's easier to level on a PVE server!" And then they transfer to a PVP at 80 and.......what? What happens? They are worse at PVP than most of the rest of you? Those of you that leveled characters on PVE servers (like Zach here on WI) can move your characters over to your PVP server and have more class or character options available to you without needing to level a ton more alts?
The only problem I could ever see from this is you might get some people who are not helping as much as they could in a battleground or something. This is not going to ruin your server. At worst you'll have some easier ganks when your running around in Northrend.

Think of it this way. It's twice as hard to gear up and level a pve type toon such as a holy priest or Prot warrior on a pvp server then it is on pve. This I can see as a good thing. If someone who plays one of those classes on a pve server are bored with how the server is going. They now can transfer and bring their skills in pve to the pvp server, where in many cases not all of the pvp servers have visited full end game.
I know on my server I don't think anyone has taken down Kiljaeden -yet- because half their Guild mates would rather sit in a lowbie zone ganking lowbies like an asshat. :P I welcome this change.

Won't this make it much easier for PvP realms to fill raid rosters though? You can actually go out and find the people you want for PvE progression now and all you have to do is teach them a little PvP survivability.

Seems Blizzard is flying high nowadays : refer-a-friend, heirloom items, pve-to-pvp... they tend to choose what may appeal the more; quite logical for a company but is the game aiming at 4-8yo with credit card kids?
Ahoni Sep 11th 2008 3:12PM
Is it too hard for you?
Caustik Sep 11th 2008 3:30PM
Don't missread : i've been playing wow since beta, i've been playing on both pve and pvp and i'm not a WAR fanboi or so, nither a WoW fanboi.
Blizzard is just following the trend : some kind of "more accessibility for all"- there is no more difficulty in that game.
Gaming industry is so dull nowadays, that's plain sad.

I like the change.
I recently moved my main toon to a PVE server, the people I usually game with are on hiatus and I got sick to death of getting killed every 2-3 mins while just trying to do dailys on the isle. Why that place is PVP escapes me, arent the 2 factions working together there?
Anyhow, being able to go back and join them when the time comes is a good thing in my mind.

I have zero issue with this. I recently over the last 6 months transferred 3 toons to a PVE from a PVP server. I leveled my main all the way to 70 on a pvp server. Yes it sucks sometimes, but whatever PVP can be fun. I had a lot of friends on that server and now I have a lot of friends on my new PVE server. I always regretted transferring just incase things did not work out on my new server because there was no going back to my old one. Now, I can do that. I love it.
Remember...just because someone is transferring from a PVE to a PVP does not mean they haven't spent many months and possibly years on a PVP server leveling mains and alts. A server is a server and if this helps people play with friends and possibly go back to servers they left to be with friends again it's all good.

gg Blizz... apparently TOS agreements only apply unless you pay enough.
First you can pay for the ability to one-shot people from 5 accounts (with one button press sending shots from all 5 accounts using external hardware and software that somehow isn't considered cheating)
and now you can level to 70 quickly in freedom from being ganked, pay a couple bucks, and take your fresh 70 out lowbie ganking.
Money talks. Blizzard listens.
Just remove the whole TOS completely blizz... you're kinda making a joke of it anyway.

awww.. poor little guy.. it's ok, your worlds not ending.
-- Love a MultiBoxer transferring his toons to a PVP (which one are you on?)
WyrmKing Sep 11th 2008 3:18PM
Because we all know PvP is all about ganking amirite? STFU please lol.
You mentioned it right there, only real difference in PvP and PvE servers is ganking. That takes no skill to gank or to be ganked. If you're the gankee, you just need to have more patience and time and hope your ganker gets bored and leaves you alone.
And all the "I'm going to WAR" people. You can't gank in WAR. You might as well stay noobs.
Swiss Sep 11th 2008 3:20PM
Because a fresh 70 is going to do well against lowbies... What happens when that lowbie decides to grab his geared out main?
Byrd Sep 11th 2008 3:02PM
I could be wrong but I've always thought the reason they disallowed pve-to-pvp transfers in the past was because those from a pve server would more likely have better gear and would thus have an advantage in terms of the "pvp" aspect on the pvp realm.
This might be true before Burning Crusade, but with the new resilience stat, it doesn't really matter your pve gear, since if you have no resilience you will get pwned anyways. And I think that getting arena/resilience gear is equally as easy/hard on both types of servers (pvp or pve).
MassivelyFTW Sep 11th 2008 4:38PM
This isn't one of Blizzards better ideas. I hope this is limited in some way, otherwise why have different servers?
Mora Sep 11th 2008 3:04PM
I for one welcome are new pve to PV transfers. When I started I had no clue what was what. I started a new toon on a PVP later.
I will not switch but I am ok with it.

This is Activisions influence ... RAF as well. $$ > all.

Whaaa! Whaaaa! People shouldn't do things for money! Whaaa!
Shockna Sep 11th 2008 3:08PM
Complaining is stupid. For those of us who leveled first on a PvE Server for friends (Who later quit), and didn't want to roll another of the same character, this is a blessing.
@zenpunk: If you have a problem with Blizzard trying to make a lot of money, better just quit online gaming. ALL companies are out to make money.
How is ganking against the ToS anyway? (Granted, I think it should be stopped, but thats beside the point)
WyrmKing Sep 11th 2008 3:17PM
And the "Gankers (not PvPers)" go WAAAAH WAAAAH all the way home.
Seriously... leveling on a PvP server doesn't make you leet. You don't even need any special skill in PvPing in PvP servers. All it is is that you get bothered and ganked while questing. And all you need to do is just out-wait the person camping your corpse until he gets bored and leaves you alone. That takes no skill, that takes patience and time.
So please, STFU people on PvP servers. Thank you.

This action might have done it for me. I already pre-ordered warhammer online but this might actually make me cancel my acct rather then just keep it open while trying WAR.
I can't believe they are making this game so easy now.
