Rise of the Hateful Gladiator

It's too early to tell if the stats will keep until release, but it's safe to say that players should already looking ahead to the end of Season 4. Blizzard has stated that there will no longer be any further iterations of Level 70 Arena gear, meaning that Level 70 Arenas will end on an ugly note. Curiously, even the Honor-bought gear such as rings and amulets, are also called Hateful Gladiator (who thinks up of these names, seriously?) instead of Guardian or Vindicator. The new Hateful Gladiator items still have placeholder graphics and are seem to be in Beta merely to help test the broken Lake Wintergrasp. For now, we PvP addicts to content ourselves with the small nugget that Season 5 is going to be a Hateful one.

I know this is news and it's awesome, but it's somewhat expected. I wonder why there is no discussion on Bind on Account items yet. Now that's a unique piece of news.

I can't wait for Season 6 and the rise of the "Really Quite Angry Gladiator"
Offhand Sep 11th 2008 9:22PM
Which will be shortly followed to s6 Gladiator gear, Child Molester's Mace of stuncombo

Maybe it's just me, but "Hateful" sounds like to strong for an adjective used in a game.
Why not "Brave", "Fierce", "Fearful" or "Terrible" Gladiator gear instead?

"RUN! IT'S THE DIGNIFIED HEADMASTER!!"
Come on now, Blizz, it's just not funny anymore :P

The name is almost right, it should be the hated gladiator lol.
I am quite sad to see this new set completly overpower, ridiculize and trivialize the Lake Honor set.
So then, bad lake gear=useles event= no one does it and thus it will fail.Bad move blizz,RvR is a real threat.

Not diggin' the name. I think Vengeful/Brutal/Merciless were more neutral while Hateful is distinctly evil. But I guess it's the smallest of issues =\
Can't wait to see how they do with the art for the PvP sets.

I think they have a dartboard somewhere full of negative adjectives that they use to determine the next season's title. Makes me all the more glad I'm not interested in PVP.

Is it just me, or is there a lack of resil on those?
Leandar Sep 12th 2008 8:32AM
Probably added more health to cover resil for now while they work on the real stats.
MechChef Sep 12th 2008 8:42AM
In before "Acerbic Gladiator"
Kiukiu Sep 12th 2008 9:07AM
Menstral Gladiator.
gridwerk Sep 12th 2008 1:45PM
Ill-tempered Gladiator
Maudlin Gladiator
Misunderstood Gladiator
Emo Gladiator
Guilt-ridden Gladiator
Maybe Hateful WAS the right choice.

Death Knights, Warriors, Druids, Rogues will get their full set of hateful gear at the entrance to the arena.
Other classes will have to work for it.
There might be one or two hunters per realm that get a piece of the hateful gear.
Offhand Sep 13th 2008 3:36AM
lolwut?
Any and all arena points will be reset when the expansion is released.
You still assume that the three current OP classes will still be OP. This is just plain silly.
I love how people already generate massive QQ about how powerful DK's will be.
