Phat Loot Phriday: Crossbow of Relentless Strikes

Name: Crossbow of Relentless Strikes (Wowhead, Thottbot, Goblin Workshop)
Type: Epic Crossbow
Damage/Speed: 182-339 / 2.80 (93.0 DPS)
Abilities:
- It can strike relentlessly, obviously.
- Improves hit rating by 14 and crit strike rating by 18, and increases attack power by 32.
- The hit is very nice for a bow and it takes up a good chunk of the +hit you need to meet the hit cap, which means you probably will have a gem or two free elsewhere to add more Agility into the mix. The crit is nice, and more attack power is always a good thing obviously.
- But the real stat on this bow is its speed -- while the damage ain't the best, the lower speed makes it easier for BM Hunters especially to match up their Steady Shot/Autoshot rotation, which means more DPS overall. This bow is a gift from Blizzard to Beastmaster Hunters,
Getting Rid of It: Disenchants into a Void Crystal, but just like most Badge gear, vendors won't buy it back from you. As I said, odds are that if you don't replace it with a Sunwell piece, you'll probably replace it at some point in Northrend. But the thrill of gear isn't in having it, it's in chasing it, right?

So ugly :< sad that it is one of the best bows out there :(

hunter schmunter... this was the first badge item I picked up for my warrior's fury set. I found him in the uncomfortable position of having plenty of badges to spend, but not enough headroom in certain stats (crit mostly) to punt it by picking up most of the armor pieces. This piece hit the spot.

As someone else already said... that looks like a flower on a stick :(

Yes it is NOT a looker.
But getting to 1K DPS in a raid is nice :)
Next thing on my list is legs and chest (100 per) so that 200 i need ...
WTB badages paying 100G per

I was looking for some new arrows/bullets in WOTLK and I saw a new one with 60+ dps (from wowhead). So... I bet I'll stop grinding rep from Kara to get the 46dps epic arrows :(
That said, grinding badges became quite boring, can't wait the new content of WOTLK... I really need new quests, stuff, npcs, locations, ... And new stuff for us mighty hunters :P

For most of us yes. I think the twinks though want to have the best so they can show off

I love the graphic somehow. It is a little strange, yes, but there's something about it that just looks epic.

Also an excellent "stat stick" for rogues (who have already bought the rest of the applicable badge gear and gems)

I don't think this bow is ugly at all, although I sure see a lot of hunters with it these days. Also, I think it'll take more than a couple of levels into WOTLK before this bad boy gets replaced by a green.

I think you're underestimating the time it will take before it's replaced by a green. From the items I have seen in the expansion, you won't replace this bow with a green AT ALL. The first upgrade I have found for this bow (DPS-wise, the stat budgets are higher on some greens) is a lvl 80 blue gun at 103 DPS, I think. The epic ranged weapons from Naxx are only carrying about 120 DPS, and the greens from the starting Northrend quests start in the mid-70's. This is probably the best item to spend badges on when you consider the upgrade path.

I'd say EASY for anyone that A) doesn't play a hunter or B) is on a busy server to get. Good luck finding any groups or raids when no one wants to pick you for them.
I speak from personal experience here. Mages, Warlocks, Druids and some other classes were picked over me for instances and raids.
Plus, 150 BoJ is underestimating the cost of the item a bit. you only get one from downing a boss in a heroic and two from downing a boss in a raid (Excluding Attumen)

Ah, the Ugly Chicken Bow of Doom. Bought mine the day my realm's armory badge shop opened up and spent a couple days the envy of the other hunters in my guild. And since I've long-since stopped raiding and don't really plan to start again, I'll be shooting stuff all through out Northrend with this thing... Now if I could just paint it a less gaudy color.
I mean, how am I supposed to be stalking through the uncharted wilderness, hunting dangerous prey when my crossbow looks like it was painted by Nerf? (The company, not the much feared class-destroying effect.)

My featherduster brings all the gentlemen to my place of business, and they proclaim, 'Crossbow of Relentless Strikes' is better than yours; most certainly, it's better than yours.
Really, it's hard to beat this bow on live. A couple of Sunwell bows knock it out, but if you're in Sunwell you already know that.

never saw the need to get it tbh still doing 1.4-1.6k dps in raids with wolfslayer sniper rifle
Tereth Sep 13th 2008 11:48AM
If you're doing that much with wolfslayer then you should definitely see the need to upgrade, as you can increase you're DPS by a ridiculous amount by nabbing this. The various classes that use weapons to attack (warriors, rogues, hunters, ret/prot pallies, enhance shaman and whatnot) see thier biggest DPS increase when you get a new weapon because it is simply a straight up increase. No conversion to AP/Crit or hit, just pure DPS.
