Bug prevents beta testers from participating in the PTR
Blue poster Tyren made an announcement on the PTR forums this afternoon that those of us who have an account in the Wrath of the Lich King beta cannot participate in the 3.0.2 PTR. This is most unfortunate news for the numerous people in that situation.If you have more than one account, your second account could probably work with the PTR (assuming it is not enrolled in the beta). I haven't been able to test this yet with my other accounts, but will update this post when I get the chance to.
Tyren does say that they are working to resolve the issue, and that it should be fixed early next week. In my opinion, it can't be resolved fast enough.

Shouldn't be too upsetting, beta is by invite only.. PTR is open to everyone (usually). Most beta testers would probably rather test beta than 3.0; after all, beta has all of the 3.0 changes in it already plus umm level 80, deathknights, a new continent, etc.

I want to test out how the new talents effect my non lvl 70 characters. I'm in the beta but they are just to laggy to get any real testing done.

Atleast the beta testers still have beta to keep them company.

Umm... fill me in if I'm missing something here, but why would beta testers want to try out the PTR? It's basically all the beta changes without the added benefit of being able to explore Northrend.

It does kind of stink. But there isn't going to be too much in the PTR that the beta testers haven't been playing with for months now. And given the choice between PTR and Beta Access, I'd still be calling them the lucky ones.

As someone who has been in beta since the first week, I can't BEGIN to understand why any beta tester would care about the PTR. It's just a watered down version of what we're testing.

I somewhat agree, the PTR is more for those not on Beta to get a glimpse of the new changes. Though its also a good chance to experiment what the best talent specs are for a lvl 70 character that will probably be lvl 70 for a month or more before WotLk is released.
Beta = Invite only.
PTR = Everyone.
So yeah, PTR is going to be far more crowded and the lag will be 100x worse than the DK starter area in beta. I know a lot of people believe that the majority of people are getting into beta but the truth is, they aren't. I can easily see the PTRs crashing when more people start to finish the 900+mb download.

I hope the PTR has better luck than the beta. The lag is so bad that I quit playing for now. I actually pulled a mob to me, waited and gave up and moved away before it started getting hit. It is terrible.

Think this happened with TBC, too.

I'm all down for keeping Beta testers outta the PTR. They have thier moment in the sun keep them outta our time. Who needs them running around our PTR going blah blah You can't get to Northrend. Keep em out of PTR

Well, for someone like me who got into the beta late in the game and wasnt able to copy my 70 in to test things out, i want to hop in to get an early look at how my pally is going to work in Wrath. Beta is great, but for someone like me who doesnt want to spoil things like Dalaran and Northrend and keep it a surprise for when Wrath comes out, i hope they fix the PTR problem soon.
