You can now begin downloading the PTR (Public Test Realm) client for patch 3.0.2. We reported earlier today that
character copies have been made active, and those are going along nicely as far as we can tell (my Warrior copied across with no problem). To download the client and copy your characters over to the PTR, login to your account administration at
worldofwarcraft.com.
We are expecting a lot of out of this patch. From new talent trees, to class and raid mechanics changes, to the
removal of the Amani War Bear. We'll have a lot more on this as we get more information in. Patch notes are not available yet – though we expect to get our hands on them soon.

I've not been very lucky with the beta key hand outs so it'll be nice to finally be able to test out the skills everyone's been chatting about. Obviously it's not open yet but very close i guess.

No one knows. I'm guessing it'll be tested for at least 4-6 weeks, considering all of the changes it's going to bring (both in game and under the hood), plus the number of times they'll patch the patch to keep it in sync with the beta changes.

Gah...i just checked post date, might not apply to this one.
I checked tech forums being that PTR ones aren't working, its giving me all sorts of errors atm and blizz note there specified that was the cause(maybe not now o.o). Anyhoo GL w/ dl if it is.

the post you linked is 2 weeks old. I'm currently dling the client and it's actually stating: "3.0.2.8916 PTR Installer EU", 1,07 Go.

That is from about 2 months ago, but you have a point, could just be downloading bugger all. Have to wait and see.

Did you check the date of that thread you are quoting Avenir? 8/1 to 8/19.
So far the patch (900mb) is downloading. It will be nice to be able to see what will happen to my Shaman before it happens so I can get prepared.

@ tehvoid, i wonder what the difference is that your PTR patch is 1.07Go and the US version is 900Mb
i'm guessing a language pack...
what i'm looking forward to is the preview of inscription, so i can gather the right herbs to begin as soon as the patch hits live servers
took me 2 days to get herbalism to 375 so my toon can be ready for inscription

Is it just me, or is the patch downloading super slow? I left it running overnight and it downloaded a whopping 42 MB in eight hours.

im really annoyed ive downloaded the client and everything but there is so many people trying to copy there characters over that for the past 4 days since i found out about this i aint been able to compy my character over... :( !!!
