...and the moment achievements start affecting instances will be the day I leave WoW for good. I had enough of xbox live players not playing the game as it was designed because all they cared about was some pointless achievement.
At the moment when you enter an instance you can be sure everyone is looking to achieve the same thing i.e kill the bosses. Now that may be to complete a quest, gets some xp/loot, whatever. But the main thing is everyone is shooting for the same goal. If we now find the odd person in the group going for some stupid achievement that isn't related to the groups purpose this game will royally suck!

It'll be a fad, and then people will tire of it when they realize they'll gain nothing from it.
Maybe Blizzard could implement a "Sore Throat" debuff if you use more than 5 voice emotes in a single minute that stops you from annoying your surroundings with any more /lolling... They did with leatherworking drums, so one can only hope. :)
