Tailoring additions in 8902
Some interesting things got added for tailoring in the latest LK beta build. Tailoring is the first production profession I got to 375, and although I'm angry at the Primal Mooncloth set for having no stamina which causes me to die all the time, the profession still holds a special place in my heart.
Particularly interesting is A Guide to Northern Cloth Scavenging, which is a tailoring recipe that seems to give the tailor an increased chance to get cloth drops in Northrend. I'm not sure where it comes from, but I'll certainly be glad to get my hands on it.
The other additions came in the form of several sets. The Frostsavage items aren't really a set as of yet, in that they don't have a set bonus, but otherwise they're similar to BC's Imbued Netherweave set. Blue quality, BoE, level 80, relatively cheap mats, decent stats to fill in spots where you haven't found anything good from a quest. Eight pieces of Frostsavage are available.
Then there are three two-piece BoE epic sets, one for each of LK's cloth specialties: Spellweave, Ebonweave, and Moonshroud. These correspond fairly closely to BC's Spellcloth, Shadowcloth, and Primal Mooncloth, though the mats are slightly simplified (each requires two of a particular Eternal element, instead of one each of two different primals as the BC cloths do). Each of the sets consists of gloves and robe. The item level is 200, so as it stands they're of equal ilvl to Naxx-10 items.
As you might expect, the Spellweave set (gloves, robe) seems most appropriate for Mages, the Ebonweave set (gloves, robe) for Warlocks, and the Moonshroud set (gloves, robe) for healing Priests. I don't know enough about the other classes to comment, but the stats on Moonshroud make me a very happy priest indeed. I'm glad they added some stamina this time around.

You get that guide from Tailoring trainers, at the cost of 5g.

So are there 3 new tailoring specs in Wrath, or are they just extensions of what we already have??
Galla Sep 15th 2008 11:15AM
Yes I was wondering this too... will there be new tailoring specs (ie Spellweave, Ebonweave, and Moonshroud) or will we just use the same one we had in BC?

Spirit is useful for warlock now (converts into 30% spell damage) and haste isn't bad at all (for destro at least).
So I'll probably prefer the Spellweave set to the Ebonweave.

Awesome idea, they should add similar books for outlands and azeroth !!

Hmm, now that I see... no sockets at all?!?

I just bought a 35g training to get that ability to get more cloth. It wasn't a book, but a quest from the tailor trainer. I was in the undead town in the northrend.

The guide droped from a mob in Naxxanar for a group member today. Looked like a random drop and only he as a tailor could loot it.
DJScythe17 Sep 14th 2008 11:24AM
Actually, it sounds like no raiding is needed for it; I got the ability by going to Warsong Hold's tailoring trainer and completing a small quest (paying 5 gold).
Alaylith Sep 14th 2008 12:12PM
I didn't meant raiding. We were in Naxxanar for the Thassarian questline from Borean Tundra (lvl 70/71).
It just dropped for him from a mob there, so you don't have to buy it or do a quest - at the moment it drops, too.
Maybe they aren't sure how they'll do it yet...

wowhead is showing these items having have a lot of resilience and iirc, that's only useful for PvP, so they seem to have a lot of wasted stats for leveling/fill-in gear.

Worth noting it's like the 8-piece (green) Netherweave Set, not the 4-piece (blue) Imbued Netherweave Set.
Ahoni Sep 14th 2008 10:47AM
Requires level 80.
Has nearly 300 resilience.
Not a leveling set, its an entry level PvP set.

The guide drop for me in a humanoid of Coldarra. Seems to be a random drop of any humanoid mob in northrend.

When will Blizzard allow us to dye our crafted items, like you can do in Asheron's Call. I am tired of looking like a clown with all the mismatched BC gear, plus I may not like the color of the new items in WOTLK, which I hear are more closely color related.

Two main reasons, the first being the models in WoW are too complex to easily allow recolours dynamically, and two, that way they have to spend a lot more dev time on creating new armour, something that sounds a good idea in theory, but dramatically lengthens the time it takes for patches/expansions to come out, something noone likes or wants.

The BC specializations, are they still around in wrath? Or does it work the way classic did in BC and you can just learn everything now?
