Wrath Pre-orders on Blizzard site

Participating retailers include Amazon, Best Buy, Circuit City, and GameStop. Interestingly enough, all the official links except for Best Buy peg the official release at November 3, a date leaked out in earlier reports. GameStop words it as "ships in 11/03/08" which could mean that the games will reach retailers over a week before the official release date. [EDIT: Or yeah, it could be that they haven't updated their sites yet. Good morning!] The details include both normal and Collector's Edition versions of the game. The official Blizzard site has, as of this writing, now been updated to reflect the official release date with a splash page.
[UPDATE: GameStop has revised their release date to match the announced date of 11/13/08]

I predicted this date. So ;p

Actually, the 4 retailers had their release dates pegged at 11/32008 for months. It looks like they just haven't changed it yet.
(Probably properly waiting official news, rather than jumping the gun like Wowhead did.)
Either that or just late to the party.

Or it just means they haven't updated their website yet. Nobody has. The announcement was just made this morning through official channels. Stop making up reasons for things.

Gamestop has updated to the new date :)

They will have the games in stock so they can set up for the midnight sales. When TBC came out, I was in Hellfire Penninsula by around 1:00am EST. The whole fun was watching more and more people trickle in as they got their copies, and people were going nuts.

Anyone actually see a retailer that is pre-ordering the collector's edition? I see a spot on Blizzards pages that talk about it but none of the retailers seem to carry it.

Finnish links seem to lead to corrected sites. Atleast some of them.
Berend Sep 15th 2008 10:18AM
ya i looked but none of them sold the collector's edition
Evi Sep 15th 2008 11:45AM
Nope. I too am waiting for an actual, working link to pre-order the collector's edition. *taps fingers impatiently*

I plan to download my upgrade directly from Blizzard, like I did vanilla & TBC. Any idea on whether their server will handle the traffic? They weren't at all prepared for the Blizzcon deluge and the WotLK orders with be a tsunami.
verakum Sep 15th 2008 10:21AM
i dont think that they will let the download on the same date as the release cuz they wont be able to handle the millions of ppl downloading it.... if they didnt handle about a few thousands for blizzcon i dont think for WTLK it will go good either :S
and the only way forme to get it is by download :(
low Sep 15th 2008 10:43AM
Thats why they use bit-torrent.
rugus Sep 15th 2008 10:46AM
We'll be able to download the full client, I hope... I really do not care about fancy packages or vanity gifts... I just need the game :)
rrrrarr Sep 15th 2008 11:00AM
Do we really still need boxes? Blizz should allow us to download from the start. It's gotta make them money, they aren't paying royalties to a B&M store and they don't have to worry about packaging at all. I'd think they'd want to encourage this.
Sure there are some people who want the collectors edition. I don't get it, but to each their own. For the rest a box and a manual they'll never read are just wastes.

Yeah, I wish they would offer the download from day one, I'm a player from the EU playing on the US servers because of friends there, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get a hold of the US version of WotLK.
Looks like I'll have to buy the game off eBay and get them to email me the code, and download the client through P2P - not ideal but it should work. :)

Worldofwarcraft.com splash page now has wotlk out on 11.13.08. Sounds pretty official from the main site now if you ask me :P

So is it official that you will *not* be able to download the expansion pack from their web site on 12:01AM of the release day? If not, then I will have to pre-order the box. It's so much more convenient to download the game, thats what we did for BC, although it was months after release.
