Get your Amani War Bear before it's too late

Whether your guild is on the cusp of getting their first bear or you're in the queue to get your turn (or even if you're looking to buy a bear from a raid group), time is short. Remember that Zul'Aman is only on a 3 day lockout, not 7 like most raids. Most groups only run the place once a week regardless, but you may want to consider rallying your raid to push for twice a week until patch 3.0.2 hits. You may only have 8 or 9 raid resets left before you're out of luck. I very strongly recommend WoW Insider's Zul'Aman Bear Run guide from our Jennie Lees if you just need to shave off those last few minutes.
Good luck, ladies and gentlemen. I hope to see many bear mounts in your future.

uhh or not. I really don't see the reason to get that mount. It's not very unique and special now since everyone has one.
Landuran Sep 17th 2008 2:32PM
Isn't this about the 3rd time you've posted an article about getting the freaking bear mount? I think you've gotten the point across.

You guys are beating a dead horse here. There's no new information presented here at all, so why is this post-worthy? It's not news.

bear=really dumb looking
nutsack protector cup on its face
massive chunky akward top heavy saddle contraption.
i dunt get it, dopiest looking thing since the lock t4 helm.
probably wouldnt be so bad if they revoved the jockstrap from his face and scalled down the big dumb goofy saddle thing. oh, and removed the burning smiley faces from the side.

Don't have one, don't want one but I have sold over 20 :)
Elmo Sep 17th 2008 2:38PM
it might not be unique now but you'll steal the show 2-3 years from now... :3

The people above are missing the point imho. Its not that this mount is particularly rare at this point in time. In the future, however, there will be no more of these entering the game. Thus as people move on to other games, start playing other characters, etc., these will become increasingly rare.

True this bear won't be around much longer but with the coming of Wotlk it looks like everyone is going to have a freaking bear mount of some sort. Hell in two weeks I'll have a white bear with a murloc on top.
zolodolo Sep 17th 2008 2:50PM
Anyone else find that people on bear mounts are particularly easy to target in pvp? It is for that reason that I never use mine.

I think your math is off a little bit there. If the bc patch released ~5.5-6 weeks before the xpac hit then you're really looking at closer to 13 days before 3.02 hits our servers.
A month is very, very wishful thinking.
As a poster said earlier. They are very, very common now, can be bought so they aren't a very good sign of status.
Additionally there are some races that look stupid sitting on top of one.
Thorn Sep 17th 2008 4:00PM
That would make sense if the timetable worked backward from projected release, but it doesn't. Blizz can release the patch a week before Wrath releases and things could be just fine.
The patch just went on the test realms less than a week ago, and there's a lot of things that need to be tested, plus Blizz has stated that it's going to be an extra-long testing cycle to give add-on authors plenty of time to convert to and test their stuff against all of the mod-breaking changes that are happening with 3.0.2 and up. So another 3-4 weeks is a safe bet.
Arcaria Sep 17th 2008 4:08PM
That would be really good news. I don't look forward to logging in to a default UI. :/

I must be the only person who thinks that while being a "bear" mount is cool... it's got one huge visual drawback. Honestly, it's got a basket on it's head. The rest of it looks neat, but every time I see one, that is all I can see... that stupid basket.

Wow, it's not all that great, but the sheer anxiety and stress you are expressing to get people to get this bear mount asap is just worrying.
thorin Sep 17th 2008 3:45PM
I agree this mount isn't special with it being sold on every server. This is also at least the 2nd article on it so looks like Alex wants to make him and the other raiders some money. I think Alex just wants to keep his post counts up or something. Terrible blogger
Arcaria Sep 17th 2008 3:59PM
I don't agree with thorin's assessment. Just to be sure, I clicked on Alex's name at the top and looked at all the blogs he's written so far in the month of September. None of them were about the bear mount but were of a variety of subjects.
There have been a few other bear mount articles put up here but they weren't by this writer.
I do agree however, that this story is getting too many headlines. It's the WoW version of Brett Favre coming out of retirement.

On one hand, yes this bear is a mount that requires some work to get, not like say, the tacky looking zebra mount you get for selling your friends into bondage ;-)
But it doesn't say special. Not like the legendary AQ mount from WoW Classic.
It doesn't say special like the legendary weapons you used to be able to get.
I don't want one, and given how so many guilds are selling bear runs, it no longer means anything special. Unlike the rare drop mounts, you know if you are with a well geared group who sells a run, you know you are going to get the bear.
So some of the bear owners may have earned it, but there is no way to know anymore
