- Tailoring got some new flying carpets added, though I'm pretty sure the Ebonweave/Mooncloth/Spellfire are just cosmetic variants. No word yet on what they look like.
- Leatherworking got a ton of new BoE epics and blues. It looks like they're really trying to make it profitable to be a leatherworker, which will be nice to see.
- Each of the armor-crafting professions (tailoring, LW, blacksmithing) got some high-stamina frost-resist sets. Previously, similar (and similarly-named) sets were used for the Sapphiron fight in the old Naxxramas; I wonder if something similar will be going on in the new Naxx. I hope not, because kitting out your whole raid for one fight is an annoying gimmick.
- A few of the professions got recipes specifically to help them discover more recipes, like Northrend Alchemy Research and Northrend Inscription Research. An interesting approach to making the discovery system less frustrating.
- A new epic fishing pole! Still not quite as much +fishing as the Arcanite Fishing Pole, but nice for those who have trouble winning the contest, and the underwater breathing will be convenient.
There are also a bunch of new enchants and elixirs, but it's just your typical +AP, +crit, +int, etc.; hardly fascinating. I'm particularly excited about all the stuff LW is getting. That skill needed some love. See MMO-Champion for full listings of all the recipes; there's just too much for me to list here.

What's the point of the water-breathing on the new fishing pole? As far as I know, you can't fish while swimming.
adamarius Sep 18th 2008 7:44PM
Its a way for you to be able to do something you usually cant do. It's just a little gimmick, something which WoW does quite frequently, and with great success.
Methon Sep 18th 2008 7:52PM
Nothing wrong with the gimmick stuff, I still have my rocket helmet and will never get rid of it, I just thought putting water-breathing on a fishing pole seemed.. I don't know. I guess I think it would have been better for a helmet or something.
I still want it though. I know I'll be grinding out the rep just so I can have it. :)

Maybe the fishing pole is made of bamboo and you can breath through it like a straw.
Mhalady Sep 18th 2008 9:09PM
How 'bout so maybe you can escape a would-be ganker with your SCUBA fishing pole that's already equipped?
Balius Sep 18th 2008 9:31PM
Great for underwater quests. Between fights, just equip a fishing pole instead of surfacing. Fishers carry them around anyway.
Heilig Sep 18th 2008 9:38PM
Screw water breathing, check out the damage on that sucker!

"I don't know. I guess I think it would have been better for a helmet or something."
They already have a waterbreathing helmet. Its an engineering recipe.

I'm glad this has underwater breathing. I still can't get the taste of Nagrand Cherries out of my mouth.

Northrend Alchemy Research and Northrend Inscription Research seem a bit unfair. Scribes get more of a chance to discover unless the alchemy one is 100% chance discovery and the scribe one is much lower.
In terms of resist gear been needed for raids I think so be it. I liked the way sapphiron was pre-bc was a fun fight however the ice blocks were the main issue not the need for frost resist gear. The only reason frost resist was needed for the fight was his aura ticking for ~1000 every pulse. It's much like felmyst's aura at the moment however its easy to be healed through. Maybe that might be the case for sapph where by all the aoe healing abilities most healers are getting will negate the damage. The flip side could be that it is NEEDED and is a way to slow down guilds in raid content. One could then draw the conclusion that there's going to be some form of attunement to get into the next raid instance that requires you to kill Kel'thuzad.

There are much more inscriptions than Alchemy recipies, so over time it should work out just fine.
Cetha Sep 18th 2008 8:36PM
Perhaps its just similar to all the arcane resistance stuff I could make to level up my tailoring, and then promptly DE for a shard since no one actually wanted it
Pfooti Sep 19th 2008 6:50AM
The alchemy research has a cooldown of 7 days, and the inscription one has a cooldown of 1 day.

Speaking of fishing....
Can a Warrior equip two Fishing Poles? And attach lures to both?
Drakkenfyre Sep 18th 2008 11:53PM
Lol, I would assume not.
zappo Sep 19th 2008 9:08AM
Fishing poles are their on class of item in the game and are not considered weapons of any sort so you can't dual wield them. It would be sort of cool to see though.
Clint Sep 19th 2008 9:39AM
Casual QQ...
TG makes Warrs OP Fishers!
lol, that would be nice, fish twice the speed.
Warcloud Sep 18th 2008 11:47PM
I highly doubt Sapphiron will be the only fight requiring frost resistance. This is Northrend, after all.
V Magius Sep 19th 2008 10:37AM
Alchemy seems to say you experiment and get a recipe. Inscription says you are very likely to learn one.
The way they are written, it sounds like Alchemy is 100% and Inscription is 50-75%.

The LWing buffs are...eh.
In BS there are already MANY boe LWing patterns....from intro raid gear..to t6 boe epics.
BoE epic LWing gear....doesnt make a profit. This was already proven in BC.
Another expasion, and yet again another example of how much fucking fail LWing is. did you see they nerfed the drums down to -1- charge? Currently drums are 50 charges. The 1 charge drum requires 4 mats.....
So I use 1 50 charge drum on average a raid night - Im the only drummer...so Im the one doing all the drumming. In BC..thats just 4 knothide, 6 clefthood.
In Wrath...4 leathers x 50...for 1 night of raiding. I will need 200 normal leathers for a single raid night..atop my normal consumables. and repairs.
Fail.
