Motorcycles finally implemented in the Wrath beta

They're a little buggy, they use some slightly new mechanics. They're about halfway between a mount and a siege vehicle. Your action bars don't change or anything like that, but it is definitely considered a vehicle since a passenger can hop into your sidecar. It's also not Engineering only, but I think that is so they can get extra testing done on it. It's a seriously cool mount, and one I'm pretty okay with. If Azeroth can develop helicopters, airplanes and submarines, they can build motorcycles, too.

Your title makes you sound like you were anticipating this. Doesn't anyone think this is completely out of place and just weird. I know Mario Kart and Burnout Paradise added motocycles. But come on, this is just embarrassing and pathetic.

Instead of guilds we can have motorcycle gangs!!
mtsadowski Sep 18th 2008 1:13PM
How do you get them in the beta?
Tim Sep 18th 2008 1:14PM
Does the passenger have to be in your party first? Otherwise, asshats will jump in and never get out LOL. Like gold sellers, for example.

Are the side cars always there? I can't see it so clearly in most of the pictures with just one person on it, but when there are two it looks huge.

How fast are they?

I'm wondering this, as well. Is that what you were referring to as 'halfway between a mount and a siege vehicle'?
Dightkuz Sep 18th 2008 1:22PM
Only makes me wondering if passengers have to be in same group as the driver or if any random person can just hop on
Kaeb Sep 18th 2008 1:34PM
"Watch the hop ons. You will get hop ons."
Should've named my warrior mchlbluth. :o

Kaeb, you just made my day.

as fun as they are, this and the hellicopters kinda ruined the feel of the game. i know the game is not based in the past but if they are going to make these modern vehicles update all the mounts to mechanized as well. a society that starts mechanized transportation quicly adapts and there would not be many people riding primative animals. therefor engineers should be able to manfacture mounts for everyone.
absurd? yes. but so aqre these mounts imo.

If it's ruined the feel of the game to you than you haven't played any other Warcraft titles... in WC3 there were flying machines (Piloted by dwarves I believe).

What many people seem to forget is that Warcraft is a traditional steampunk setting, and has been that way since at least Warcraft 2 (I can't speak for the first game, having not played it).
This is a world where you can make a gold mine burst into flames by shooting it with enough arrows (faithfully represented in WoW by having every stone act as an explosive when ground into powder).
The laws of physics are different here. Combustion engines are easier to make.
