Player-created hairstyles look pretty snazzy

Some of them are just jokes from real-life hairstyles (the Duke is really funny, and I like the dastardly Blood Elf mustache, too), but some of them really pull off the characters in a way we haven't seen before. There no afro, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), and Kxara says that's because of the low polygon count on the characters -- either they'd have to go with high polygons and wreck low-end machines, or go low polygons, and it would look bad for everyone.
With barbershops in the game, Blizzard's starting haircuts are probably not the last we'll see (and maybe someday we'll even have faction or question haircuts), but these specs put together by Kxara are a good place to start if they decide to add more.

Still no hair love for the Taurens.
anonymoose Sep 18th 2008 9:37PM
I know right?! I kept clicking through very excited awaiting the new she tauren designs...until I sadly realized there weren't going to be any. :0(
Kxhara Sep 19th 2008 5:09PM
I'll be making some tauren styles soon. :) I hope to have a few designs for each race and gender made in this on-going project.

Interesting article. I still say we need instanced player housing. Think of the money and time sink Blizzard would have then...
Editing suggestion:
(...question haircuts)
Question should be Quest I imagine ;)

On another MMO that I frequently play, they are beginning to implement player housing. It's still in beta right now, but from what I've heard it will allow the player a place that they can decorate as they wish (within the constraints of the game, of course) and they can also keep certain items there instead of in their pack or in the bank (like different outfits, for example). It's linked to their account specifically, so no one else can ninja your stuff when you're not home, and I don't know if other people share the outward construct or if you can have "visitors" or whatever, but it's an interesting idea.
With as many people who play WoW worldwide, this might not be feasible, unless your "home" could be a separate area from the logon screen of that particular toon? Hmm...
Anyway, just thinking aloud here.

These are so much better then the simple drag style A to race B that Blizz did.
Corey Sep 18th 2008 9:55PM
I like how its about hairstyle, but some guy that posted it couldn't help but get a shot of the freakin toons tits and a$$.. guys need to stop worshiping women for gods sake!
Zyli Sep 18th 2008 10:25PM
Everything points to the creator of these hairstyles being female...notice the prolific use of the pronoun 'she' in both this article and the Resto4life.
I would take a wild guess and say the lack of cover up is due to the fact that it was done in a model maker and adding armor is an unnecessary step.
Lighten up there a little bit Corey, it's not a big deal ^_^
Corey Sep 18th 2008 11:03PM
Never said it was a big deal, never made it a big deal, just made a comment.. thought thats what the "comments" section was for..
And in a game that is majorily male players, although sadly a high percentage of them play as females, thiers no reason it should be directed as something for only females, as a male I would enjoy this personal customization..
Also to note, thier is a male pic, but of course no where near as revealing, just a head shot and a funny beard design. (the duke)..
All i'm saying is, if its about hair styles, focus on the head.

Cut the woman's rights activist crap. It's not getting you a date.
Metal_Gear Sep 19th 2008 7:46AM
I would say you were the one with the weird obsession, no one else looked at that picture and said "Wow, she is in her underwear."
And if your getting your rocks off to WoW character models which looked pretty naff when WoW first launched... you need help. There is lots better Hentai out there. :|
Kxhara Sep 19th 2008 5:15PM
Regarding both articles here and on Resto for Life, they make the assumption that I am female. I've never actually stated which gender I am IRL, and it really shouldn't matter. (But it's not like it's hard to find out if you're desperately curious)
Azghoul Sep 18th 2008 10:19PM
Yes Corey, men should just ignore what make women beautiful to us and concentrate on other men amirite? Play white knight all you want but the fact that men enjoy women is not something you are going to undue no matter how much youd like.
That said I agree that the transfer one race hair style to another is lame as is one dance to another. Is it so ungodly hard to create something new? If other players can come up with new hair styles surely high paid developers can right? RIGHT!?!
Also again to go back to Corey, you want men to stop worshiping women? Should we just go back to not letting you vote and keep you in front of a stove what the heck do you want for pete's sake. Get yelled at for loving women get yelled at for keeping you under thumb what the crap man what the crap.
