Coren Direbrew now drops cross-faction Brewfest mounts, teleportation device

Now that Brewfest is live, that decision has been reversed, at least partially.
Now, neither mount can be purchased with Brewfest tickets. However, instead, both drop from Coren Direbrew down in the Grim Guzzler. That means that the Alliance and the Horde can both go after the Ram and the Kodo, but only as a rare drop. This solution brings them in line with other cross faction mounts, and is probably about the best compromise we could expect from Blizzard. I'm still a little disappointed that the Kodos will never be as accessible to Alliance as the Rams were for Horde last year, but I am glad that I will have a chance to grab the Kodo at all. It does look like this gets rid of the level 30 versions of the mount though, or at least the chance of level 30s obtaining them.
Another new piece of loot off Coren was discovered last night on the Taiwanese servers: Apparently, Coren also drops a teleportation device called Direbrew's Remote that gives your whole party a ride to the Grim Guzzler from anywhere in the world on a one hour cooldown -- a perfect chance to take in a Level 80 ETC show or grab some more Dire Brew, or just head over to attack Coren a few more times. Thanks to Compulim for bringing the remote to our attention.
Coren Direbrew also drops a lot of other loot, including 2 trinkets which summon lusty barwenches to aid you in battle. All in all, I expect I'll be trying to wrangle quite a few journeys to the Depths to get me some loot.

I want that controller so bad. It has NO limitation on where it can be used in the world so I have this urge to walk into a raid and after a night of wiping or winning (I'm not picky) use it and send five raid members to BRD for some booze. :>

Apparently it's ideal to use when AV is about to start... :D

still crap! once again the horde mount is a rare drop like almost every horde mount for the alliance. When is the alliance going to get an assured horde mount like the horde got the ram last year or almost every alliance mount blizzard puts out there for them.

If only... My Tauren Shaman would love a shot at a tiger mount, but you think it's easy convincing anyone to run ZG?
Hopefully it'll be easier to run once I'm lvl80...

I've killed Coren Direbrew 19 times so far. I have only see a barmaiden trinket drop twice. No mounts have dropped. I just want a kodo, but this isn't much fun.
Balius Sep 20th 2008 1:36PM
I've killed him 4 times, the kodo has dropped twice. It's not THAT rare...

Too little, too late

This is messed up! They got our ram, they got our hypogryph. WTH! Blizzard is horde biased and there's proof in their actions.
Dann Sep 20th 2008 10:02AM
Yeah, it's not like Aliance can already get Undead Horse, Raptor & BE Chickens! lol
Heilig Sep 20th 2008 12:37PM
You're an idiot. Those mounts are drops, not purchasable like the Hippogryph is and the ram was. Give us a year to turn in tickets for a kodo and give us a faction where we can buy a bat at exalted, THEN you can start bitching about mounts that are drops. Especially when they are 1% or less drops on zones with a 7 day reset.
And don't EVEN mention the undead horse. It's 1 in 10,000 for Christ's sake.

Well, damn.
I have 598 brewfest tickets saved up. That's right, last year i was 2 short from getting my ram.
So i guess i'll be spending those on the clothes and beer, and actually have to raid for my damned mount. :/
Havitech Sep 20th 2008 10:20AM
Hate to break it to you, but this year all the items require "Brewfest Coins" as the currency to purchase them.
:x
Oldbear Sep 20th 2008 10:28AM
You can turn in your old tickets for the new coins.
BenMS Sep 20th 2008 10:54AM
YOu can trade last year's tickets for this year's tokens. So no big loss.
Anaughtybear Sep 20th 2008 6:56PM
Actually, it is a big loss, since you can't buy the mount anymore and have to spend it on worthless crap like shoes. I wish Blizzard would nut up and stick to their guns once in a while instead of caving in to whiners that couldn't stand Horde getting their precious Alliance rams. Fine, give Alliance kodos, but don't punish Horde for nothing.
Lhock Sep 20th 2008 9:27AM
Once again, they took something nice and fun, and turned it into an endgame only, group only possibility.
The best thing about Brewfest last year was you didn't have to rely on anyone to get the ram. This time around I was excited to get my 55 druid one. NOPE! Gotta kill a level 70. Complete BS.
Mr. Chris Sep 20th 2008 9:37AM
level 73 actually ;)
Iwanttobeasleep Sep 20th 2008 11:54AM
If you have leet level 70 friends, you can try going with them and sacrificing a bit of DPS. I'm hoping to convince my raiders to do that for some of our lowbies.
Mr.C Sep 20th 2008 9:37AM
the transporter device is awesome
oh, and the stein which summons the black brewmaiden, it's win ;)
