Coren Direbrew now drops cross-faction Brewfest mounts, teleportation device

Now that Brewfest is live, that decision has been reversed, at least partially.
Now, neither mount can be purchased with Brewfest tickets. However, instead, both drop from Coren Direbrew down in the Grim Guzzler. That means that the Alliance and the Horde can both go after the Ram and the Kodo, but only as a rare drop. This solution brings them in line with other cross faction mounts, and is probably about the best compromise we could expect from Blizzard. I'm still a little disappointed that the Kodos will never be as accessible to Alliance as the Rams were for Horde last year, but I am glad that I will have a chance to grab the Kodo at all. It does look like this gets rid of the level 30 versions of the mount though, or at least the chance of level 30s obtaining them.
Another new piece of loot off Coren was discovered last night on the Taiwanese servers: Apparently, Coren also drops a teleportation device called Direbrew's Remote that gives your whole party a ride to the Grim Guzzler from anywhere in the world on a one hour cooldown -- a perfect chance to take in a Level 80 ETC show or grab some more Dire Brew, or just head over to attack Coren a few more times. Thanks to Compulim for bringing the remote to our attention.
Coren Direbrew also drops a lot of other loot, including 2 trinkets which summon lusty barwenches to aid you in battle. All in all, I expect I'll be trying to wrangle quite a few journeys to the Depths to get me some loot.

I personally don't think that everything should easy accesable for the casual gamer. It if is then what is the point of having special thing in game. There would be no point in riding around on your new mount cause everyone would have it. There are plenty of things for Brewfest that casuals can attain but I am glad that somethings will be "status symbols"
AS Sep 20th 2008 1:14PM
Status symbols in WoW = nothing, unless you're 10.
Neroon Sep 20th 2008 1:28PM
That's cool if you think that! I'm sure you play the game for your own reasons! But who am I to say your reason are bad or childish!
Tib Sep 20th 2008 2:09PM
All rewards should not be for the casual gamer, however themed "Holiday" events and their rewards should be open to all players casual and no life's. As far as "status" rewards oh those of small ego, a real "status" item is something you make your own whatever it is and when people see it they think of you.

Yes I'm going to QQ about this...Last year, it was super easy to get the brewfest mount and you didn't have to count or compete with 4 other nerdy losers for it. Would it have been so wrong for it to be the same way again? Thanks Blizz for reminding me why I cut back on playing this game and made me the antisocial a-hole I am today. And yea, I do have that mentality that I can be entitled to everything in the game if I put my money down for it like everyone else. And for those of you who tried to run the instance 20 times for the mount and still haven't gotten it, go out and get some sun and put your life into perspective please.

"And yea, I do have that mentality that I can be entitled to everything in the game if I put my money down for it like everyone else. "
Wrong. You pay money to PLAY the game, not to have a win handed to you on a silver platter.
It's like you saying you paid for the hire of the tennis court and equipment so therefore you should win the game. Anyone will tell you that is obviously ridiculous. You pay to be able to compete, but you're still going to have to do some work to defeat your opponent before you can be awarded game, set and match.
But the end reward is nothing to brag about and not worth the effort, you say? Only 10 year old nerdy losers want such status symbols, you say? Then you will surely have nothing to QQ about then, since it's something your superiorness doesn't want anyway, No? I'm sure you are not a being a hypocrite here. No siree. Not at all.
It's an effing computer game! So what if you don't get some odd little limited addition status thing because you can't afford the time? It's no big deal. Get over it.
You only become an "antisocial a-hole" if you let your own avarice for pretty pixels in Wow override your life and priorities. Sit back, relax and enjoy the game. If you're not enjoying it, stop playing and spend some time away from WoW.
Go take up some new hobby. Like you said "Go get some sun and some perspective". It's very good advice, you should take it yourself.

Rofl. I actually did get some sun today, got a sexy tan and came home and saw all these beautiful emailed responses. Nice to know that my comments can actually have an affect on you Sphingx, and people who probably think like you. Again, I think it a totally worthless waste of time to even bother, and I was actually responding to the post that stated it would be a "status symbol". Seriously? That's not taking it into perspective. And Sphinx it's probably best if you not respond to this, because that'll just make me even more certain that you're part of the 99% of WoW players that a). doesn't get laid- at all, and b). you too measure your worth in a virtual game and got hurt by my comments...Aww.
Blizz should give me the option of getting something unique that doesn't require the involvement of "other" people...the OPTION. If you want to go into a dungeon for "phat loot" hooray for you, if you feel like getting phat loot alone then hooray for you too. See my point? I wish we had a choice. FYI Force Unleashed is definitely worth grabbing if you've gotten sick of WoW's constant grind.

I killed the boss 12 times, and saw the mount drop once. No one is mentioning that you are also getting trinket drops - some of which are actually pretty sweet. And stop calling that a "raid", it is a trivial 5-man encounter.
Erbodie Sep 20th 2008 1:21PM
Oh, and the kodo mount is absolutely bad ass, totally worth the grinding.
baronsoosdon Sep 20th 2008 1:56PM
Got a kodo for my gnome on the first try. Lucky me :)
The mount is indeed cool and kicks ass!

What i dont understand is that no one complained when blizzard made us kill a 5 man boss with the headless horseman AND ahune (which was even harder to get to because it was in an outland instance) but yet, this time around when they make us kill a boss people are up in arms about it..... THE IRONY
Abbadon Sep 20th 2008 5:44PM
So for my first attempt....
Smoking pipe x3 (that no one needed)
Teleporter / remote x1 (dropped with a pipe)
Brewmaid x1
And a lying bastard that said he had the quest but was actually there for his 6-9th times, 11th-14th times, who knows...
So again, thanks Bliz for making this a frustrating experience reliant upon drop rates and the integrity of other players as compared to a reward for one's own time and effort.
Drakkenfyre Sep 20th 2008 5:56PM
I have to say, it's pretty lame making you take on a boss to get the mount, if it drops, lol.
This leaves out all the level 30's since that mount no longer drops.
Doominatrix Sep 21st 2008 7:44AM
Rams are purchasable for gold from vendor at Brewfest (100g for Epic Ram)
and if you use the teleporter to go to BRD Bar then talk to the roadies setting up for ETC concert the band will come out and rehearse for you

Had the Remote and the Ram Mount Drop last night, I got the remote, but my pally friend got the mount (i was so jealous), we all started yelling over vent when it dropped, I was so dissappointed when they said the ram was taken out, and completely suprised when it dropped on the boss, I need to check wowinsider a little more often and maybe i wouldn't have busted eardrums. The ram mount is my favorite (easy mount to get, ravenlord still wins rare drop) in the game, even though i play horde...so the chance to snag one is awesome imo.

"Rare: adj., rar·er, rar·est. Infrequently occurring; uncommon: a rare event; Example: A plant that is rare in this region.
Excellent; extraordinary: a rare sense of honor.
Thin in density: rarefied: rare air."
That's why it's called a "rare" drop, people. Everybody doesn't get one just because they want it. Some things in WoW aren't designed for every one to have one.
I was a lucky one that got it on the first run. /hate shield

I have 4 70's that have been running this boss since day one of Brewfest. All 4 have every trinket. Never seen the remote drop. The ram has dropped twice for my rogue who already had the ram from last year. The Kodo has dropped twice and I lost the roll. Thats at least 125 Boss kills and only 2 chances to roll on the Kodo. Absolutely total BS that horde got "free" rams last year and this year it is impossible to get a Kodo on any of my toons. I am very frustrated!
