Well, my view on the subject is that the idea is that with Kil'Jaeden beaten the legion is effectively being pushed off of Outland. The idea is that the Naaru are likely going to take the time to rebuild, and during the patch apparently there will be an event where the scourge attacks. This might be part of the impetus for the march north. Not to mention that the Lich King isn't exactly a being of sweetness and light, his existence can pose a great threat as well. The events in Outland were important, primarily for the Burning Legion fights, currently they've been defeated, and eyes turn north towards a persistent foe.
