I agree with you to a degree. Let it be spontaneous, but you better do your homework first and give good examples and arguments. Most of the time it isn't what you say, but how you say it. I also agree with the idea of talking to the GM for what you mentioned about him not realizing he's "been a jerk to the guild". It's amazing how people can change if you can intelligently and tactfully talk to someone. You may not like him, but sometimes that can change too. I've had several people that i didn't like, but after discussing it with them i've seen redeeming qualities in them and changed My mind.
