WoW Moviewatch: Dragonball Z Warcraft style
He attempted to make a feature movie out of Dragonball Z, but tired of it. Instead, he took some of his favorite scenes from his effort and turned it into a trailer. In it, you can expect shiny colors, balls, and ... more balls ...

"At some point, you grow up out of that phase and are embarrassed to admit that you ever participated in it."
Hypocritical that your job is writting thing about WoW?
Anyways, DBZ rocks!
robsolo Sep 22nd 2008 12:53PM
Beat me to it.
Pyeno Sep 22nd 2008 12:11PM
DBZ is still one of the best shows out there and personaly pokemon sucked ba::'s, not bad vid tho.
Saelorn Sep 22nd 2008 12:31PM
Everyone's is entitled to an opinion. Personally, I found that DBZ made for good background noise while playing a computer game or otherwise engaged; you never really missed any plot by not looking at it.
Pokemon was and is still above average entertainment, and every version of the core series has been worth the $20 to which the price of the cartridge was eventually reduced.

I've always liked more the pre-Z part of the saga.

lol@ "At some point, you grow up out of that phase and are embarrassed to admit that you ever participated in it."
so ironic.....
you're playing a video game! yeah, real adult. You have NO right to call someone else out as having childish tendecies, or saying they should be embarassed for enjoying those things. You may be pretending to be "grown up" posting articles on a website(about a video game). but seriously, take a step back, and look at what you said there. What makes Dragonball Z "childish", and WoW "adult"?
Pot, meet Kettle...

The stereotype that Adults don't/can't play video games went out the window a long time ago. A video game is a type of game. So is bridge, poker, chess, checkers you get the point.
I too did not agree with his comment about DBZ; fighting one lame stereotype with another did not help either.

I though Moo Money made it pretty clear that she doesn't play WoW.
Not sure what her other gaming habits are though.
Markymark Sep 22nd 2008 12:24PM
She said she played second Life alot and she just now started to play WoW again. As a fan of anime it's a good show but to just generalize it among the likes of pokemon seems a tad unfair. Like any anime import from Japan... America just loves to molest IP's.
Fendoral Sep 22nd 2008 12:42PM
I wasn't meaning to imply that she was right to look down on DBZ; I just wanted to clarify that she doesn't actually play WoW.
Some people seemed to think she did.
InsaneAssault Sep 22nd 2008 2:25PM
Well call me a blogging noob....but why is a blogger writing about WoW if he/she doesn't really play WoW?
Moo Money Sep 22nd 2008 2:30PM
Funny you should ask that, InsaneAssault. For over two years now, I've had the honor and privilege to be a full-time self-employed machinimator, earning thousands for my work. I've been consulted on for a machinima book, planned my own machinima convention, and spoken at other conventions. You can see my resume here: http://sasharudie.com/resume/
I beta'd WoW, but I was very honest when they asked me to blog for them that I did not play WoW at that time. However, I know machinima. I do play WoW now. I'm a casual level 45 druid named Moowi on Mal'Ganis in Elitist Jerks. That should answer all your questions.

The apex of geek self-loathing is achieved when you start arguing that your nerdy entertainment is somehow less nerdy than someone else's choice of nerdy entertainment.
Tap Sep 22nd 2008 12:20PM
Yeah, I have to agree. Can't make fun of DBZ while playing WoW. DBZ has an appeal as its very altruistic.
Sivar Sep 22nd 2008 12:31PM
Her profile says she plays second life. I'm not sure if thats worse or better than WoW as far as giving you the right to make fun out of DBZ.
Palamer Sep 22nd 2008 12:30PM
Do you know who hates Sesame Street the most? Not older kids. It's kids who have JUST gotten too old for the show. They "hate" it because they don't want to be seen as "babies". Strange thing, when they get a few years older, they don't hate it so much.
So when I hear you are embarrassed by Pokemon or DBZ, it says to me that you have some issues with being associated with younger folks. People who have no issues either still understand why the show is popular, or are "meh". Embarassment is an indication of something else.
You might guess that on my part, I am way past caring about such things. Pokemon rocks for many, many people and DBZ as well. If people still enjoy them as adults, that's great.
Discograndpa Sep 22nd 2008 12:32PM
I remember watching DBZ on Toonami when I was younger.
This comes nowhere near it in terms of style.
They could have even thrown in an "Over 9000" joke and I would have been amused.
Bromnir Sep 22nd 2008 4:44PM
This is probably as good a place as any to point out the irony of running this machinima right after Toonami was cancelled this past weekend.
Apparently DBZ will live on as... machinima? Hey, why not.
Eric Sep 22nd 2008 12:34PM
I liked the show. No fear in admitting it, most of my peers know too.
Really the article seems very berating and I'm somewhat disappointed in it. I'll humor your snarky article with a comment.
