AT&T maintenance tonight to cause connection issues
A news announcement on the login screen is letting us all know that AT&T, the people who provide data center service to Blizzard, will be performing maintenance tonight from 12:00 a.m. EST until 5:00 a.m. EST. This will likely cause problems with both being able to login to the game and stay connected. This is an odd maintenance announcement, and one that I don't recall seeing before.
Hopefully this will not develop into anything more serious – such as extended network outages or other such issues.

Well it says 12:00 A.M. to 5:00 A.M
So this would mean if you are playing tonight it could affect you.

Umm... it becomes Wednesday at midnight (technically 12:01am), so this is going to be happening later tonight.
Keyra Sep 23rd 2008 8:22PM
Basic timekeeping lesson for you, Vlad: 12:00am is still considered "tonight", and it goes from Tuesday to Wednesday at that time.

I live in the central time zone.
It's tonight for me. And everyone else in America not on the East coast. And "tomorrow" starts at 12:01 a.m.

I hate to break it to you guys above but the next day starts at the moment 12:00am or 000hrs hits...

Adam please your making us who live in the central time zone look bad. Soon as 12:00:01 hits it is technical the new days starts. The common misconception is the day starts at 12:01 am. This is in fact a practice used by airports to avoid confusion. Department of Commerce agency, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and its military counterpart, the U. S. Naval Observatory (USNO) all recognize day change the second 11:59 pm has ended and 12:00:01 has started.
The more you know.

fix this lame comments app!
Keyra Sep 23rd 2008 8:30PM
Nothing wrong with the comments app. Maybe it's you? Come to think of it...yeah, it's you. So if you don't like WoW Insider (which is apparent from reading the posts that you've made), I'm sure that there are other forums that have better commenting apps that you can troll.

At least I have my own home, am old enough to vote, drive a car and drink alcoholic beverages.
Jewbanks Sep 24th 2008 2:25AM
Yea im really proud of you for managing to have lived 21 years.. j/k
Keyra Sep 24th 2008 8:50AM
And then some, Jewbanks! But...we won't go there :-) Considering our (cough) friend's prolific usage of profanity to illustrate his points both here and on his libelous blog, though, I'd guess he's younger than this. If not, then he's just acting with the maturity of someone who's around 14 or so who discovered Daddy's internet password. :-)

There have been ISP's that have had connection problems w/WoW that were actually caused by AT&T. Mine, Optimum Online, is one of those.
Voodoo Sep 23rd 2008 8:20PM
So, what this is saying is.. Don't plan on playing tonight after the game has been down for maintenance most of the day. This is a maintenance after the normal maintenance.. you'd think some people @ Blizz and AT&T would have been smart and done their maintenances on the same day. Oh wait, that might require common sense, we couldn't have that.
Keyra Sep 23rd 2008 8:52PM
Well, we ARE, after all, talking about AT&T...or ATT...or SBC...or AT&T (again)...or whatever they're calling themselves this week...
Common sense to them means about as much as doing something for the people (instead of TO them) means to our government.
Justin Sep 24th 2008 3:10AM
ISPs never perform maintenance during the day. They do it when internet traffic is lowest. Also, the effect on WOW players is likely just a byproduct of their maintenance that they made Blizzard and probably many other companies aware of.
Khirzask Sep 23rd 2008 8:20PM
Even while they're calling it "maintenance", I think that all of us can clearly see...
IT'S A TRAP!

By the way, you guys really need to clean up your post tags. Half of the ones on this post are redundant, and it just makes things look unprofessional.
