Breakfast topic: Vacation to Northrend
Hooray! After months of speculation, we finally have a release date for Wrath of the Lich King. The World (of Warcraft) will soon be chock full of Death Knights and Inscriptionists. There are so many things to look forward to. I can't decide which character to level first. I'll have some time.
As promised, I put in my Paid Time Off request for a few days after the release. I'm very surprised at Thursday release date, but I'm not complaining. I'm taking the twelfth through the sixteenth of November off work. I beat the release-request rush at work, so my time is approved. See you in Northrend.
Are you rearranging your schedule for the coming of Wrath?

good thing you used that time off to look at a server down screen or a 2 pfs howling fjord i guess :p

I'm with Krag on this. Work Thursday, install Thursday night (which will take forever), and work Friday while everyone is screaming about their addons not working. Hopefully things will settle down a bit over the weekend when I actually get started, and then I'm taking the following week off to sit at home and play when things are more stable. If I'm lucky with my schedule otherwise I might be able to parlay thing into having most if not all of Thanksgiving week as well. Woot.

Ahh yeah. Work Thursday to let all the early installers get past the starting zones. Install and play a little Thursday night. Work Friday to let more move ahead and play Friday night. Go to bed about 2 am set alarm for 10 am (I play on a west coast server and live in Texas so it will be 8 am there) play until 2 pm go workout and then go clubing.

I am trying to persuade my close ones that I am gonna need a very long break from the real world. I'm probably just gonna go ahead and do my school work like one week in advance. This is going to be epic.

I'm stuck not knowing if I'm even going to be in the area then.
Besides, if I took off the time, surely the servers would be down for those days.

Taking seven days off.....pizza, case of monsters, no life....good to go i think :)
Khanmora Sep 23rd 2008 8:23AM
I've got the 12th through the 15th off. I have no doubt I will find some way to spend my time :)

I think its a bit foolish taking off the days right after launch.
Id wait at least a week to allow for:
- Players to disperse through a few areas
- Launch bugs and errors to sort themselves out
- Hotfixes to be applied to fix the above areas
- Avoid server lag
- Avoid server resets due to aforementioned errors/lag/overcrowding
- Avoid 50 guys fighting over 5 mobs
- Avoid rampant ganking.
- Avoid server queues if there are any.
Honestly, for me days off work are pretty valuable, if I take some days off it will be 2 weeks after launch minimum.

Same here. I think it's smart to wait for a little while. An online game this big is going to have problems no matter how long Blizzard has time to prepare.

Yeah, I'm not going to take any time off either because of that.
For the first few days, I might even play on my not-yet-70 alt, just to avoid most of the above. Enjoying nice, silent, Azeroth.

Oh I'm totally taking a week off when it comes out. I even told the scheduling lady it was for a game, even though she looked at me weird.

i think im going to stockpile food and drinks, then see how long I last
doug Sep 23rd 2008 8:42AM
Sadly, I can't convince my college to give me a week off.

L2 fake illness :)

Professors don't give a care if you're sick or not. I'm expected to be in class unless I'm dying.

The release couldn't be at a worse time for me. I need my days off for the holidays, and I'll be deep in writing a research paper.
Heck, I even discovered a Beta key in my junk folder yesterday, and I'm giving it away to a guild mate.
tyler Sep 23rd 2008 9:10AM
after reading your comment i checked my email junk folder..and sure enough there is a beta invite siting in there since 9/11

Lol no, probably got school that day. And to me WoW is just a game/entertainment and thus I do not allow it to interfere with what is more important.
