Breakfast topic: Vacation to Northrend
Hooray! After months of speculation, we finally have a release date for Wrath of the Lich King. The World (of Warcraft) will soon be chock full of Death Knights and Inscriptionists. There are so many things to look forward to. I can't decide which character to level first. I'll have some time.
As promised, I put in my Paid Time Off request for a few days after the release. I'm very surprised at Thursday release date, but I'm not complaining. I'm taking the twelfth through the sixteenth of November off work. I beat the release-request rush at work, so my time is approved. See you in Northrend.
Are you rearranging your schedule for the coming of Wrath?

As soon as I heard of the release date I immediately put in my leave from work. Considering the fact I am the MT for my guild it occured to me that a few days or even a week off would not be enough to satisfy my leveling and exploration needs.
To combat this problem I decided that a 15 day paid work holiday to play my favourite game (the only game I have played in two and a half years) would be the best choice.
With a wife and son who also play and many friends in guild who are always looking for a reliable tank how could I not!
Fortunately for me with the position at my work place, I will more than likely have my copies of the WotLK CE a day before the official release date (working the home entertainment department for a major store chain has its perks) so for myself and my family there will be very little sleep and many many hours of wonderful enjoyment together exploring northrend.

I'm definetly getting on first day its out. I'm not missing school or work, because I have enough downtime to manage,
@ Ryft.
The point in them segregating the horde and alliance in this expansion are to avoid the afforementioned problems that ran rampant when TBC dropped. Also keep in mind, only a pyschotic morong would try and gank an army of ally ALL in the same area. (Or a PvP guild lookin for some honor)
Also, if they're introducing their phasing as planned, shouldn't it work out so there is less of a mob:player issue? I'm not sure on this, but I think thats what it was meant for, to decrease downtime due to nubcakes #'s 1-5 taking all your kills in their group (Even worse if they're full greens /wrists.)

Taking some day off from work to assist to a huge lagfest? No thank you.
Dammerung Sep 23rd 2008 10:54AM
Making sure I have plenty of non-wow activities to keep me busy while I take a week of from WoW to avoid the lag... heck yeah.

I am taking a vacation from work starting friday 14th and until the 18th, more than that i dont dare to be away from work - lets hope Blizzard wont postpone the releasedate! On the 13th I will just dl and get addons etc and sit tight!

I have it pre-ordered, but I couldn't afford the $24.99 overnight shipping through Gamestop. That means I won't even get the expansion until at least a week after it comes out. It sucks when I think about it, but hopefully by the time I get the game installed most of my addons will be updated and I'll have missed the biggest Death Knight rush. :D My guildies will probably all be 80 by the time I get it and running the new instances, lol.
So in the mean time, my boyfriend is in the beta so I'm going to take advantage of it and check everything out. That way I'll have experienced a lot of the new content already, and the pain won't be so bad.

I'll be taking that Friday and the following week off if I'm still at the same job by then. I have vacation time they are bugging me to burn, and with a few other issues going on in RL, (aformentioned possible new job) I don't know if I'll actually get the vaca time this year...so it seemed to me a perfectly viable reason to take time off.

My normal days off are Thursday and Friday so no need to drop time.

I'm really disappointed at the lack of news about release parties. I really wanted to go to one this year since I missed the first one.
I'm also going to be taking my time with the game. BC starting up really burned me out- I didn't get my Alliance main to levelcap because everyone else had beaten me in leveling and I just hated it, possibly because of the hard grind for PVP gear a few weeks beforehand to level in. Now I have a hunter who should level more easily (instead of a druid) and a more widespread group of friends with a number of alts who may want to explore and roleplay in the new content.
And as for the Death Knight? I'm waiting weeks, probably until my hunter is 80 and my priest has moved along some. I'm also pushing pretty hard on some recruit-a-friend characters so that might contribute to burnout, but I hope not.

I filled out a request for Thursday and Friday off, but I haven't turned it in because I'm scared my boss is going to ask me what I'm doing. :-)

(I work at a school and get turkey week off too ;)
Eric Sep 23rd 2008 10:39AM
I have my priorities straight, college, work, play games, no time off for me. I'm not that big in to shirking off responsibility.
I will be online in spare time of course.
Nevermore Sep 23rd 2008 10:50AM
I have from Nov 7th to Dec 2nd off. Plus, I'll get another week and a half at Christmas. Yay for not taking vacation time off last year.
MechChef Sep 23rd 2008 10:42AM
Playing through the first starting zone has helped cool my desire to get in there knee-deep on the opening day. That said, I'll buy it opening day, and play on the evenings. However, going to work and making money > burning my ETO on game-time. I'll have plenty of time for playing.

I have 2 months off between graduating uni, and starting my job :D
Charles K Sep 23rd 2008 3:53PM
I go to school all day two days a week, and I do student teaching on Wednesdays, leaving me a four day weekend, at maybe a level per day.
After I get my homework done, of course : )
