Breakfast topic: Vacation to Northrend
Hooray! After months of speculation, we finally have a release date for Wrath of the Lich King. The World (of Warcraft) will soon be chock full of Death Knights and Inscriptionists. There are so many things to look forward to. I can't decide which character to level first. I'll have some time.
As promised, I put in my Paid Time Off request for a few days after the release. I'm very surprised at Thursday release date, but I'm not complaining. I'm taking the twelfth through the sixteenth of November off work. I beat the release-request rush at work, so my time is approved. See you in Northrend.
Are you rearranging your schedule for the coming of Wrath?

I'm in a quandary. As a relatively new player I am not as desperate as longtimers for something new. I was going to wait a week or two until the starting areas are relatively empty but my guild says the fun will be if we all level together and can experience the new instances/bosses as a group. So I suspect i will be out there the first week as well. However my schedule doesn't allow for more than an hour a day on average so I suspect I will be left behind anyway.

I think it would be fun to hit Wraith right after release, but my time is precious, and i can't justify taking time off work for a game, since i have a career and not a job. So, yeah not happening. Plus I have to wait for the order from Amazon to show up. I'll likely need the extra weeks to get my alts up to 70, since i am not playing them past 60 until 3.0 (well, not playing them much).

Hrmm...not to be the grammar police or anything...but i wonder how long it will take the general population to figure out that it shouldn't be 'inscriptionists' but instead 'scribes'.
And the 13th and 14th I'm taking some PTO like most everybody else! midnight release here i come.

Nope!
I only have one class on Thursday, and none friday, so I'm driving home from small-college-town to pick up Wrath and play it on my parent's sweet internet connection, all weekend long.
And then come Monday I'll be killing myself to do all the Internet-class work and homework I should have been doing, but such is life.

I want to, but i also want to make sure:
1) they release on time
2) the servers aren't so laggy i can't even play during the day.
If those pass, i'll take a couple days off. Luckily as a computer programmer i dont need to request off very far in advance.

Nope. Thanksgiving is close enough and I'll be getting time off for that... time off that I don't have to pay for. In fact, they pay ME. I'd rather save my PTO for vacation.

In a word: No.
It's going to be a lag-fest. It's going to be buggy. And I'm not in a hurry.
And it's just a game. Not worth getting frustrated about because of the issues above.
I'm sure I'll head up to Northrend and do a bit of looking around and such, maybe even whip out the fishing pole and level some fishing/cooking. But no rearranging of schedules for me.

I already had that week off because the 12th is my birthday. What an exciting treat... Xpac and ice cream cake!

I have a full course load at university, but most of December off. I will maybe buy it and start playing next summer, but I used to waste so much time on this game.
I haven't played for many months and every single aspect of my life has been steadily increasing. I think I will wait until Diablo 3, unlike WoW you don't need hours and hours to get things done.

I agree totally, I'm gonna wait to take off. Like those above said I wanna avoid all the problems that come about from new releases.
Besides it will give people time to get through quests and stuff and then post the "best way to handle it" strategies ^_^
I'm all about letting other people do all the work.

Hellz ya! I got friends coming over to get away from their insignificant others and we're going to lan party it up for a week in my basement until we're 80 and beating up naxx bosses hopefully the next week. The plan is 16 hours a day of wow work, 8 hours sleep and eating, 2 levels a day minimum before you're allowed to sleep.
