Forum post of the day: Mobile love
Recently, rumors have been spreading about a mobile application for WoW. Blizzard has been trying to get some information through a series of mobile service polls on the forums. Bornakk began a poll regarding the number of times forum users have downloaded games or applications for cellular devices. In the cellular era, Blizzard appears to be making our favorite MMORPG more mobile friendly.
Many of the posters indicated that they have the latest in smartphones and thus are constantly adding new aps. This will likely encourage Blizzard to provide better mobile support. This will be handy considering that they have been resistant to third party mobile applications.
The poll has been up for a few days now, jump on in and submit your response. t'll only take a moment to log in and vote for the poll, and it may help encourage better phone support.

Yea, I'm waiting on the day where you can play WoW on a mobile phone.
Hell, I'm waiting on the day where you can drive, eat, cook, microwave, have a beamer, have the best digital camera, have a mp3 player, a HD videoplayer, can iron shirts, all with the mobile phone in 3x3 cm format.
That, truly, will be one of the millenniums most anticipated scientific breakthrough..*rolleyes*

Lots of links in this article (too many, really) but none lead to the forum post described.

That's what the "Source" link is for at the bottom of the post.

I think a mobile WoW will probably have more to do with checking in game mail, auctions and maybe chatting less about actually playing...

I don't want to play on my mobile phone. What I would want in a mobile app is the ability to chat w/ my guild and maybe watch LFG queues while I'm away from my computer.

Guild chat, mail, the AH, and maybe trade chat would all translate well to mobile...
Candina@WH Sep 23rd 2008 10:46AM
WoW, the accelorometer driving game....
svenhoek Sep 23rd 2008 11:02AM
Just something to access my bags, mailbox, and play on the AH would be great.

Maybe with a fishing interface so I could level fishing at work.

So glad that Blizz has gotten all the other issues with WoW taken care of so we can have phone based apps.
*rollseyes as well* just what we need, more idiots on their cell phones.

And how long after this comes out will we start hearing sensationalized stories in the media about people playing WoW on their cell phone while driving causing accidents?
Of course, you do kind of wonder if it will happen. "Well officer, I was running a bit late, so I logged on to guild chat to let everyone know I was going to be a bit late for the Naxx raid, and that's when I plowed into the back of the car in front of me because I didn't see he was stopping."

iPhone users need to get Armory Spy right now from the App Store. Best 3rd party WoW app for the mobile market, and it's FREE. Provides character and guild stats, equipment, skills, rep, everything you could want. Find out what the enemy has equiped, what their spec is, all of it.

I think it would be hilarious to play WoW on your phone. You could be doing a raid and be like "g2g, hav AT&T aggro!"
