Honor points and marks reset in WotLK
We all had an inkling this was coming, right? I mean, it is Blizzard and they do things that are occasionally "evil." So it should be no surprise to anyone that Eyonix announced today that they will be resetting all the honor points when Wrath of the Lich King is released. In his post he does mention that they will be putting in a few new items that are purchasable with honor points only. At least those that have piles of points saved up can get something. Let's just hope that it's something you can use. They will be appearing on the PTR shortly.
The reasoning behind this is that Blizzard wants there to be an even playing field when everyone hits 80. If people saved up tons of honor points and marks, they could be used to immediately purchase the newest PvP gear. That would create an imbalance.
Blizzard has further clarified that marks will be reset as well. A few helpful commenters have also pointed out a blue post back from back in August that tells us arena points will be set to zero once you progress beyond level 70.
The reset will happen right before WotLK is launched. There is no exact day and time, however.
If you'd like to complain about this, please take a number and wait your turn until called. Currently servicing complaint number #1,046,527.

Incoming nerdrage.

Great so I have nothing to do pre-wrath besides farm gold and faction....boring

You have the same thing to do if they were not releasing wrath...play the game.
I am still raiding, having fun with friends and playing the game. True, I am not grinding honor as much, or loot is not as important, but it depends on why you play.
also, here is the best advice I can give:
only boring people get bored.

I'd like to get in the complaint line, please. Wow, already serving number 1,046,527? At least the complaint department at Blizzard is getting efficent.
Boo Sep 23rd 2008 5:40PM
They already said ages ago that arena points would be wiped. it will be a totally clean slate for pvp currency.
chance Sep 24th 2008 10:06AM
Yesterday was ages ago? Mmmmkay.
In fact, ages ago they said there would not be a wipe of points. Here's the proof:

Oh, this is going to raise a major ruckus.
Lemons Sep 23rd 2008 5:38PM
Well, there goes my plan to horde honor before wotlk comes out, oh well I wouldn't have done it anyway, I'm too lazy :P
Ikarus Sep 23rd 2008 5:38PM
meh, it sucks but it's to be expected. not really that surprised
FireStar Sep 24th 2008 9:24AM
I still don't understand why this is so expected? Everyone seems to be expecting whatever happened during the BC release. This Certainly didn't happen. Everyone was saving up honor. Why should this expansion be any different? The reasons were still there.
Oh well imma take my 30k honor saved up and buy some swords for my rogue to level him up faster.
Danath Sep 23rd 2008 5:41PM
whaaaat?! reset Marks? I have like 400 marks on two characters and nothing that I want to buy, they are going to erase all of it?!
Rothryx Sep 24th 2008 12:02AM
How about getting all the PvP mounts?
Danath Sep 24th 2008 1:01AM
Because im not interested in having a big stockpile of mounts? I have my Black War Horse already, if I have no other option, sure, at least ill get something with them, but im not happy about having to waste my hard earned tokens on such a thing, Honor reset fine, tokens.... just painful, I never want to run WSG or EOTS again.
Todd Sep 23rd 2008 5:42PM
Wow I feel so dishonored by blizzard...
niko Sep 23rd 2008 8:07PM
i c wut u did thur! lol
great comment.

That's fine with me. I was debating whether to farm up some merciless stuff now, to make levelling easier in the expansion, or to hold onto my honor for 80. I'm glad they aren't encouraging the latter.
Although, now that I hear there will be new things in the next patch (honor-sinks), I am disinclined to spend my honor now. I look forward to wowinsider making a full report on these new options, as soon as they hit the PTR.
