Tigole lists informal patch notes for the next stage of the beta
Tigole has been joking around on the forums with a vengeance today (did you know that Northrend was originally going to be called "Blizzneyland"?), but he did provide us with a quick preview of all the patch changes for the next beta build coming up. Heroics, he says, have been retuned, and Blizzard is especially looking for feedback on endgame raid instances like Icecrown. Dalaran has gotten a little more "polish" (that's the shiny kind, not that there are more people there from Poland), and there will hopefully be a glyph vendor in soon to let players try out new glyphs of all kinds. Finally, he says performance updates have started, and that's a good sign that Blizzard is working on getting towards the final stages of the expansion development -- sounds like most of the early zones and items are as done as they're going to get.He also, of course, says that there are class changes in the patch, with one of the most insightful notes we've seen yet: "You won't like the ones made to your own class but you'll think the changes made to the 9 other classes are all overpowered." It's true. If only all of the other patch notes could be so incredibly clear to players.

"You won't like the ones made to your own class but you'll think the changes made to the 9 other classes are all overpowered."
I think it is hilarious and seems to mirror the reception of every single change they ever make.
One of the reasons I never understand some of the qq is that it shocks me that 5 years into WoW there are still people who talk about "my class." Who doesn't have multiple max level toons at this point? Even if you do only have one, it has at least 3 specs. For example, if you are a paladin unhappy about the state of they holy tree, you still have ret and prot which are looking really good. They will probably get holy where it needs to be before launch, but if they don't what is the big deal? It isn't like your class is broken. Just heal on your priest or your druid or your shaman or something.

Some of use just started this game this year and DO only have one 70 main (a holy paladin). My highest alt is a level 20 priest that I don't think would heal so well in Outland.

That said, it does not justify people QQing every change.

Some people are really focused, and are either able to keep playing one character without distraction or simply play less when they've accomplished goals on that character.
And, as has already been noted, not everyone has been around since launch.
Even among people who have multiple 70s, some generally identify with one particular character the most. That character may be their first 70, or their favorite class, or have some other special meaning for them. When that character's viability comes into question we get they'll worry about "my class".

Well all I can say p-diddy is that holy is better on the PTR than it is on live, so the worst that could be said is some of the other healers have been buffed more than holy paladins. On the live realms, holy paladins are already the least adaptive healers in both areas, so you shouldn't feel any less powerful if you continue to heal (in fact beacon of light will help you).
That said, if you end up being forced out of your desired healing role in either PvP or PvE, what is to stop you from playing Ret or Prot?

I only have 1 toon. Since I'm semicasual I don't have time to pimp out more than 1 toon. To me, having alt-itis means I'd have to accept having lots of mediocre toons instead of 1 really good one.
So when MY class gets the nerf bat it definitely affects my enjoyment of the game.

"not everyone has been around since launch."
I certainly haven't been.
"That character may be their first 70, or their favorite class, or have some other special meaning for them. When that character's viability comes into question we get they'll worry about "my class"."
I'll concede the point.

"You won't like the ones made to your own class but you'll think the changes made to the 9 other classes are all overpowered."
LOL, genius.
And sooo true.

** Dalaran has gotten a little more "polish" (that's the shiny kind, not that there are more people there from Poland), **
Of course not. If we were talking people from Poland, it would be "Polish", not "polish".
Maybe you should re-spec to the Grammar Tree ;)
Ahoni Sep 24th 2008 3:40PM
or we could just nerf the grammar police.
G Sep 24th 2008 5:22PM
Maybe you should re-spec to the Tree of Humor Sensing.

Sorry. It must suck running into someone with an education, eh?
Eternalpayn Sep 25th 2008 9:03PM
Wait, education? Ret Pally? Something here is illogical.

geeze mike, you forget to credit mmo-champion for this story. just because you read the bluetracker to get your news doesnt mean you can bypass the source. without all of Boubouille's hard work what would you have to write about?
Dalek Sep 24th 2008 4:02PM
@vlad
since when did official forum posts become property of mmo-champion? All mmo-champion does is data mine and repost forum comments anyway.

LOL! Lies. It said so on WoWInsider.
STereo Sep 24th 2008 4:32PM
I'm surprised Tigole has the nerve to joke about class balance. Blizzard has admitted to a favoritism toward druids which seems to explain their dominance in pvp as seen in arena stats and the fact that they are in great PVE demand as both tanks and healers. I bet the druid class doesn't have much to complain about in the next patch, but I bet some less blessed classes will.
Derbeste Sep 24th 2008 5:55PM
Every has a "fact", but no one ever has a source.
Andelorn Sep 25th 2008 10:10AM
Wow, way to read only what you want to from a comment.
'Blizzard has a lot of Druid players who want to see that the class succeeds' does NOT equal 'Most of Blizzard plays Druids and they want them to be better than the other classes.'
People said Blizzard hates Druids, GC probably said that isn't true and that there are people in Blizzard who play Druids and they don't want to see the class ruined. This could also be said for every other class.
SunwolfNC Sep 24th 2008 5:31PM
isn't this the same guy that players were wanting to see drawn and quartered for being a dick on the forums with banning people that had (what seemed to a LOT of people) intelligent criticisms of the beta?
he tosses out a bone and all's forgiven eh? :)
