I think you're simply being selfish if you play a DPS shaman but refuse to res other people. Really, the Shaman is a Hybrid class for a very specific reason - be act like one. If you are not satisfied with being stuck being the occasional off-healer or are needed to ressurect someone, then simply you're playing the wrong class.
I have both a Priest, and a Paladin. As a Priest, i played holy, I even enjoyed it. I still enjoy it from time to time. But as a Retribution paladin, I'm stuck in that hybrid role. I recognized that role... and then gave it up. A while back I started playing my Rogue again, and began basking in the glory of not needing to heal, res, or provide group buffs at my own expense.
Quite simply, if you don't want to do something that a healer is supposed to do - don't play a class that can heal / res. Otherwise, it's you're role to act like the hybrid you play.
