I can see the aoe stun being really useful in both pvp and pve. Stuns are always useful for obvious reasons in pvp, but in pve, I think this would be best against a large group of caster mobs.
A tip for AoE damage though, let your tank get a hold of them first. Otherwise, you and your healer will be eating lots of damage and the stun on this spell makes it especially important to wait till the fight's been started because a stunned mobs for a paladin or any tank for that matter will have a harder time holding threat since they rely on being hit.

It's only obvious if you already know it. Believe it or not, everybody doesn't know this and I know from experience trying to tank aoe groups as a warrior only to have a mage blast wave before I can get 2 thunderclaps off.
