Best Buy Canada not looking forward to Wrath of the Lich King

I thought this was just a case of Best Buy cutting and pasting from another more informal site, but Google doesn't find the same text anywhere else, so this might actually be a disgruntled WoW player in their system writing out a fairly biased description. The text still says a release date hasn't been announced (and of course it has) so look for the text to change soon (just in case it does, the full text is after the jump). But wherever you are, disgruntled WoW player, thanks for the laugh.
The continent of Northrend heaves and quakes: The Lich King, Arthas, stirs in his icy fortress. Great armies of Undead rise from the frost, fueled with the necromantic magics of the mighty lich, driven solely by the urge to scourge the life from Azeroth. Achieve greater levels of power and battle other high-level heroes as you invade Northrend to defeat this terrible new threat.
New levels of power (up to level 80) will become accessible, along with new talents and abilities. A powerful new Inscription profession will unlock even more powerful magical spells and effects.
Epic siege warfare (1% chance to drop, bind on pickup) includes destructible buildings and PVP objectives. Explore new dungeons with fantastic new creatures and amazing treasures.
You'll also be able to customize your character's look with new hairstyles and dances. Rumour has it that a new "hairstyling" profession may be open to blood and night elves.
Finally, an awesome new class - the Death Knight - will be achievable as WoW's first Hero Class. A long quest full of perilous challenges will gift the user with the powers of turned Dead Riders. A class-specific power - "Unbalance Game" - is available to the Death Knight class on a one-patch time limit cool down.

..off-topic, but. Does he write these while he's live on WoWRadio?
NotSurprised Sep 27th 2008 4:20PM
He's probably a Mage, shafted for the second expansion in a row.

I wonder because i'm hearing the live stream now.
I guess Schramm is that good or its pre-written and posts it at a later date

This one happened to be written this morning and posted this afternoon.

I LOL'd.
I kind of like the proof there there's an actual person out there making up the description, even if their opinions of the game and fact-checking are very skewed. XD

Even Better...Future Shop, also Canadian, owned by Best Buy, has this for a release date:
Release Date
Please note: The release date listed here for World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King has absolutely nothing to do with reality. We've tried, desperately, to direct the Eye of Kilrogg towards Blizzard Headquarters to get a peak at the real date, but they've got some serious Mojo around that place. We will update this release date when new, more accurate data is available.

I went into the local Best Buy more than a week ago to ask about pre-ordering, and the clerk told me that they don't "do pre-orders for games like that" whatever that means. So no surprise.

I noticed this awhile back, and assumed it was some pissed-off employee, lol.

Ok, this is not a review, but an overview, which makes it a corporate opinion.
Best Buy can get seriously sued for that.
It won't be there very long.

Right on. I had applied for that copy editing job here in Vancouver at Best Buy/Future Shop HQ, but got passed over. It's good to know that the job will be reposted in the next week or two.

And what's even funnier is at the bottom of the page, the disclaimer about striving for accuracy....

That's been there for months... up to the release date announcement, it also had a final paragraph that went something like "Oh, and while you were reading this, we ganked your character and vanished. Your class is overpowered anyway."

This is the same description I read off of www.futureshop.ca like 2 weeks ago.
supersaint Sep 28th 2008 5:25AM
It sounds to me like the article's author got DK ganked one time too many in the beta.
Phynn Sep 28th 2008 9:25AM
Seriously, I live in Canada and pre-ordering in store from Best Buy and Future shop is impossible in my city. I was told they are not planning on doing any pre-orders, that they will have "enough" in stock on the release date.

BestBuy.ca and FutureShop.ca (which are the same company)do this kind of stuff all the time for the gaming descriptions.
FutureShop.ca description of the Elite 360:
"Got a 360 already? Upgrading to the elite? Take some time out from swimming in your money bin in Duckburg and fill out the form below to order an XBOX 360 transfer cable."
They also used to imply that the PS3 was, in fact, Skynet. Good times.
