Blizzard retracts honor point changes: honor points will not be reset
Bornakk has announced on the forums tonight that the honor points wipe they were going to do before Wrath of the Lich King will not be happening after all.Once again for clarity: honor points and PvP tokens will not be reset when WotLK is released. According to a post by Zarhym today, Arena points and teams will still be wiped immediately prior to Wrath's release.
This is a very interesting change of policy. Blizzard announced last week that all honor points and tokens would be reset. Since that announcement, there has been significant outrage by many players that have saved up large amounts of honor and tokens. With this change players will be able to stockpile points and purchase level 80 PvP gear. However this gear will be "significantly more expensive" than current level 70 gear.
We'll bring you any updates that develop on this breaking news.

wonderful, now in order to combat this Blizzard will push harder on the "significantly more expensive" front and for those of us who have NOT stockpiled honor/marks/points, it will be ridiculously difficult to purchase PVP pieces.

Wow, vlad, you're a tool.
Dillon Sep 30th 2008 9:25PM
I wouldn't worry about it. I expect that things will be ~30-45k a piece anyway. It's not going to give anyone a big advantage but will hopefully (for Blizzard) be enough to satiate people who have stockpiled points.

a) Along with the "significantly more expensive," they will probably drastically increase honor gains at level 80 to match, making the whole stockpiling at 70 only slightly hepful.
b) Congratulations to Vlad on being the #1 troll on wowinsider! Your insight and wisdom is truly invaluable, but in this case "invaluable" actually means "lacking in value" ;)

Wow Gee wizz I am so glad I decided to go out and spend my honor points since they were going to be wiped anyway.

Well, think of it this way.
You will make more honor off the level 80 BGs than you would off the level 70. Another blue post even said they were looking at increasing it more.
So while they will let us keep that 75k honor, it just won't go as far towards level 80 pieces as it did at 70 but the time it takes for you to earn each piece at 80 should be comparable to how long it takes to earn them at 70 currently.
Make sense?

Gee Vlad yeah all WOW news is copyrighted by MMO-Champion. So everyone should pay them royalty fees whenever MMO Champion reposts something from Blizzard.

Now now, guys, don't pick on Vlad so much. You gotta feel sorry for a guy who refreshes MMO-Champion until news is posted, then refreshes WoWInsider til one of their skilled writers puts some opinion and thought into the bare bones posts, just so he can complain that they "stole" the post from another newsfeed, instead of simply taking longer to find the post themselves.

aargh, annoying, i've been spending my honor points and tokens on crap instead of seeing them go to waste.
almost tempted to log a GM ticket and get them refunded.
Horixon Oct 1st 2008 10:23AM
Wow Vlad, you really are useless. I just looked through your last few posts, and all I see is complaints. You cry about the fact that WoWInsider isn't as good as MMO-Champion. If you don't like it, stop visiting here. Nobody wants to read your childish posts.
vlad Oct 1st 2008 2:00PM
lol, your all so daft.
its not about mmo-champion being better. its about mmo-champion doing lots of hard work and wowinsider taking credit for it.
i like WI just fine. its just an injustice to steal from Boubouille who spends alot of his personal time bringing all this news together. for free i might add. WI gets paid for his work.
obviously your all fine with stealing someones work and taking direct credit for it. and getting paid by AOL to do it.
your all so far up WI's ass you just hear me saying stupid shit and react without any thought process at all. without processing what im saying or the point im conveying. just react and call me a troll or whatever. a shame your all that clueless and nieve.
so 3 cheers and a big FUCK YOU to Boubouille!! from all the fanboy kids that want to call me a tyrant.
and im the bad guy LOL.

Greetings Vlad,
We do not lift our news from MMO-Champion. BB provides an excellent site that I visit regularly. When there is something he does that I feel warrant a mention on our site, I give him credit, link to his stuff, and smile as I've helped bring great content to the community.
However this news is not from anyone associated with MMO-Champion, as I'm sure BB would attest to. It comes from Blizzard "Blue" posters, who are in someway associated with the administration of the game. These posts are made usually on Blizzard's official forums (although sometimes they are made on the front page of their website as well).
As such, you can see that I've linked to the official blue post. How did I find out that this blue post was made? I scan the Blizzard forums like clockwork at the top of every hour. It usually takes me about 15 minutes to go through them. I used to use services like BlueCard, however I found that they missed some important information.
The comparison you're making is fundamentally flawed then. BB does not own this news. And I most certainly did not plagiarize it. Saying that MMO-Champ owns this news is like saying CNN owns all the news about the stock market collapse, and that MSNBC and FoxNews are just ripping CNN off. That's incorrect, and so are your arguments.
I generally don't respond to trolls, but I thought I'd shed a little light on this matter for those interested.
Nice website, btw =)

Can we please please please ban the mmo-champion fanboy already? vlad ftl
jrb Oct 2nd 2008 4:18AM
"Can we please please please ban the mmo-champion fanboy already?"
a little harsh. he's voicing his opinions, which you just so happen to disagree with. WI has a user-centric moderation mechanism to down down-mod comments you don't like, and i think works pretty well.
j wallace Sep 30th 2008 8:57PM
I guess that's good to hear, unless you actually took blizzard for their word and spent all your honor already like i did.... : (
SaintStryfe Sep 30th 2008 9:29PM
Same, I wasted mine to buy tabards and mounts.
I'm a little peeved.
Adamanthis Sep 30th 2008 9:50PM
I actually thought to myself, "Well, since they've announced a wipe, they know a lot of people will rely on that notice and spend all of their honor and marks. There is no way that Blizzard would be stupid enough to retract the announcement after making it!"
Ah well.
Smurk Oct 1st 2008 1:43AM
I turned in all my marks to get 15k honor for the Guardian neck, figuring it was better than nothing. I guess it is, but I'd probably rather have 20 WSG/EOTS/AB marks. Oh well.
James Oct 1st 2008 9:24AM
I bought the glad war staff on my warlock cause it looked cool, not it doesn't look so neat ;(
raya Sep 30th 2008 9:19PM
Hm, but aren't they gonna require arena rating for the gear you can get with honor? So those people can save up as much as they want but if they don't have the arena rating to get the pieces they need, then it still defeats the purpose of saving up tons of honor and tokens.
