Launcher updated again, 3.0.2 soon?
The Launcher "and its related tools" have gotten another upgrade today, even though the realms haven't come up yet, which tells us that the Background Downloader probably has more work to do, which itself means that we probably won't see 3.0.2 today. Not really a surprise -- it's early by anyone's predictions for sure -- but the Downloader has had a full patch out for a while, so the update is primed and almost ready.Today's downtime is all about hardware upgrades, apparently, so Blizzard is definitely gearing up for Wrath. We saw lots of hardware upgrades in the months before the Burning Crusade launch (people who were playing back then will remember all of the horrible queues and population issues before servers got expanded), and while Wrath probably won't be as big a jump, Blizzard is still getting ready.
Which just leaves the question of when we'll see patch 3.0.2. Considering the BC content patch came just about a month before release, we're still looking for it in mid-October (likely after all the ruckus of BlizzCon has died down).

How do you know what they are finished with? They could be having the "We are finished party" right now and you would not be invited.

I figure the 14th for 3 reasons.
1. It's a normal maintainance day.
2. It's exactly 1 month before Wrath releases.
3. It's immediately after BlizzCon.

This is probably a terrible noob question, but is the 3.0 content patch the same as 3.0.2?
darian Sep 30th 2008 2:08PM
3.0.2 is actually the expansion *after* Wrath. It's currently known as "Mild Irritation of the Unnaturally Pale Person of Distant Royal Descent". Supposedly we'll see "1337sp34k" as a new profession, and "Woke Up on the Wrong Side of the Bed Armored Soldiers" as a new Hero Class.

Why do people keep saying "the patch is gonna come out this TUE", When to the best of my knowledge Blizzard has NEVER rolled a patch out with the PTR still up?
eclips Sep 30th 2008 2:18PM
Not that I believe DKs will be released early but the people who say "Why would I buy wrath?" or anything else. Blizzard could easily lock any Death Knight that doesn't have the expansion after the 13th. Similar to how if you have a 10 day trial for wrath, after that time is up your elf/draeni toons are locked unless you upgrade. Blizzard has the technology to do it so it is possible.

Guessing next week to prepare for Blizzcon. With all those people getting the new mount a patch needs to come out to allow everyone to use it in game.

Even though my Launcher says that data for the next patch is available, when Background Downloader runs I get, randomly:
Data for the next patch is not available.
Or it checks the 821MB WoW-2.4.3-to-3.0.1-TBC file I previously downloaded over many, many days (something was definitely odd about it) and then starts providing it to other people p2p.
Are others getting the next piece? Or are Blizzard maybe just reseeding that same chunk properly this time so everyone else can now get it?
