Mage class not being removed at this time
In a startling announcement, European CM Vaneras has confirmed that Blizzard has no plans to remove the Mage class from the game. "Current plans," the CM later clarified. "Please remember that the expansion is still in the middle of extensive beta testing, and many aspects of the game are being balanced. If we find that a crappy talent or class is not working, we will remove it."The statement was met with mixed reactions among the playerbase, as many have agitated for an existing class to be cannibalized and its sweet innards redistributed in order to preserve raid balance in Wrath of the Lich King. Other, less pointless ranged DPS classes saw much debate concerning the issue. While Hunters could regrettably not be reached for comment as it was dinnertime and Mom was calling, the Warlock community, found at their collective den of iniquity, replied, "Nerfing us is not the answer. Buff other classes." When asked about Mages, they thought for a moment and said, "Classes worth buffing."
WoW Insider has thus far been unable to confirm with a developer that Mages will indeed remain in the game through patch 3.02. Reached at his office late Tuesday afternoon, Jeff "Tigole" Kaplan responded, "The what class?"

Now i want you to make a post saying Blizzard is removing bear form from druids.
Allison Robert Sep 30th 2008 6:54PM
Every bear who logs onto the beta suddenly realizes that, with armor normalization, we are now 1/3 less bear! Diet Tank, if you will.
Nick S Sep 30th 2008 7:31PM
And yet still take less damage in Naxx than any other tanking class!
2/3 Bear > 1 Warrior/Pally/DK?
Allison Robert Sep 30th 2008 8:02PM
I would actually be astounded if that is in fact the case. I've seen Ghostcrawler's posts on the subject so I'm aware Blizz is concerned that (once again) bears are currently too strong in endgame, but the mechanics of the class make it virtually impossible for a bear druid to take less damage over the course of a boss fight than a shield tank. The real advantage of a bear (versus physical damage) is that they'll take less damage per hit than a shield tank, but they *will* be hit more as their only means of avoidance is dodge. Versus a paladin or warrior tank who, up until recently, had to juggle block, parry, and dodge to get uncrushable (with warriors able to be passively so in T6 gear), there's no way around it mathematically; bears take more damage, they're just (hopefully) more mana efficient to heal. Now, with crushing blows out of the game and presuming the full 12% overall damage reduction from Protector of the Pack, that score has evened somewhat, but the fact remains that warriors and paladins still get hit a lot less. It's entirely possible that early encounters are prejudicial to the bear tank, however, and I would expect Blizzard to do something about that. I've been on the short end of the "Not all tanks can tank all content" stick before and it royally sucks.
DK's - well, that remains to be seen. If they're geared correctly then there's a strong chance they'll have as good or better avoidance than a warrior or paladin, but when they *do* get hit they'll get hit much harder, which is a big cause for concern as it's spike damage that's most likely to kill a tank. Upcoming post on this as many of them have been hell to heal in 5-mans.

Removing bear form? Now that's something we'd all enjoy!
This post makes me want to start a WoW version of the Onion News Network. :)

I laughed...
And then I remembered my 6 month retirement after being unable to find a raiding guild for my fully-purp'd mage...
It hit a little too close to home.

I have to agree, and Allison just made the "WoWinsider Douchebag" List, which is surprising, because I never even noticed her posts before hand honestly.
Talk to Adam Holliskey! You're both in the running for the 08" Election.
Dan Sep 30th 2008 6:54PM
Oh come on, she's NOWHERE near as bad as Holisky.
Saiforune Sep 30th 2008 8:16PM
Yes, very true, but a troll in the form of a WoWinsider post is a very sad thing. Just what WoWinsider is AGAINST.
I'm currently Working on a poster for him (Adam) in the upcoming election. I'll post it when it's finished.
His slogan made me Lol, " Why vote for Allison when you can have an ELITEST JERK!? I ALWAYS KNOW THAT TO DO!!"
bob Sep 30th 2008 6:14PM
brilliant! and the pic is the icing :P
hoob Sep 30th 2008 6:15PM
A troll post in the form of a WoW Insider article? How quaint.
QwithnoU Sep 30th 2008 6:16PM
As a warrior, I vote we eliminate the mage class as well! haha.
Arcane Mage fix=Mirror Image as 51 point Arcane talent. That ability is insane, why should every spec ('specially Frost) get it?
Hurode Sep 30th 2008 6:24PM
That plus fixing Arcane Blast and giving Arcane mages a reason to take Spirit would be spectacular.
Please, Blizzard, do it.

"While Hunters could regrettably not be reached for comment as it was dinnertime and Mom was calling,"
"Nerfing us is not the answer"
Excellent, excellent, excellent!
Very funny story - thanks for making my day a little less dreary.
Darkwind Sep 30th 2008 6:20PM
Hilarious. Well done.
Thanks for braving the trolls to give us a laugh.
:)

I really do like being a mage. The other classes kinda bore me. If they did, in fact, remove the mage class I don't know if I'd have any other reason to play.
Matazuma Sep 30th 2008 6:22PM
hahaha nice!
IamJacksrage Sep 30th 2008 6:27PM
See, and I was just txting my wife saying how bored I am @ work... 'The what class?'

brandon Sep 30th 2008 6:31PM

The hunter bit was especially good.

In my opinion a blog in which the authors get paid, in theory are supposed to offer constructive criticism and ideas regarding the issue in which the blog pertains to.
Granted, I found this article humorous as it is a mighty exaggeration.
That being said, it doesn't belong on THIS blog. Writing this article on a blog that is supposed to be providing professional, constructive and insightful ideas regarding World of Warcraft just because one is bored, is rather useless. There was nothing constructive in this post.
Flame me all you want, but this post does not align with what this blog is "supposed" to be about.
