Mage class not being removed at this time
In a startling announcement, European CM Vaneras has confirmed that Blizzard has no plans to remove the Mage class from the game. "Current plans," the CM later clarified. "Please remember that the expansion is still in the middle of extensive beta testing, and many aspects of the game are being balanced. If we find that a crappy talent or class is not working, we will remove it."The statement was met with mixed reactions among the playerbase, as many have agitated for an existing class to be cannibalized and its sweet innards redistributed in order to preserve raid balance in Wrath of the Lich King. Other, less pointless ranged DPS classes saw much debate concerning the issue. While Hunters could regrettably not be reached for comment as it was dinnertime and Mom was calling, the Warlock community, found at their collective den of iniquity, replied, "Nerfing us is not the answer. Buff other classes." When asked about Mages, they thought for a moment and said, "Classes worth buffing."
WoW Insider has thus far been unable to confirm with a developer that Mages will indeed remain in the game through patch 3.02. Reached at his office late Tuesday afternoon, Jeff "Tigole" Kaplan responded, "The what class?"

first off I thought it was rather funny, using a language an entire comunity/genre would understand.
If you can really do better at posting blogs I recomend you all start one and put in your elitist Wow is a job and must be taken serious comments.
I am sure that you could get sponsers with the quality info that you all are adding, and then paid millions, so you can multibox and tell everyone else how hard core you are.
or just do yourself a favor and don't read posts made by contributers you don't like!
also, I know it won't mean much but...
Have a great day

Great, humorous post! Sadly, so many people fail at reading comprehension, and they place blind faith into everything they read as fact, that they don't get that this column is SATIRE.
Geez, people, lighten up!

I must say I find this terribly offensive. Do you simply not realise that people don't play Warcraft to have *fun*. It's especially cruel that you would make fair of a persecuted minority in this way - can't you think of the little mage children?
I have to say it's the comments that really push this into priceless. The sheer seriousness with which so many people take it... fantastic.
I disagree with your point about all buffs being disdained as insufficient though - that simply isn't true and will not stand. Some buffs *are* recognised by those of the class as very nice.
It's every other class who complains that this'll be OP, it'll destroy them in endgame raiding, etc.

Deep freeze is official...
a 51 talent point that no one wants....

Does this mean I get to pick a new class for my mage?

That's weird, mages didn't even make my hatchet list:
1. Stranglethorn Vale
2. female orcs
3. /trade
4. The Exodar
5. Overlord's Helmet of Second Sight

I love the mage class for things like this.
Hopefully DKs(my next class) will be like them, or maybe like rogues.
They really know how to be powerfull and remain unerfed. The power of whining I guess.

Might as well have blizz delete the paladin class, fucking blizz and their nerf to infusion of light and tankadin's raid utilitity given to the other classes while we get some mediocre(excluding BoS) abilities

This just reaffirms my choice to leave the game for warhammer to play a sorc, the glass cannon thats still a cannon.
They wouldn't have to worry about the choice to remove the class if they haden't botched their class design so much.
In their quest to balance the game around Arenas/PvP they made the PvE suffer. Warlocks (At release the debuff class) became the main nukers, in an effort to make Support classes more desirable they bumped them to be incredable in any spec. And in the end the only the only class thats suffered worse than mages is the Holy priest.
They have already lost me as a customer, how many more will they lose after people who love the mage playstyle learn about this?

I beg to differ. Warlocks did not became nukers because of Arena. Warlocks became nukers because of DamageMeters. DoTs still do not scale as well as nukes because of Crit and Haste. So Warlocks have to nuke in order to provide competitive DPS. Add to this that the role of the "debuffer" has no use in Blizzard's PvE design. Frankly, it's all about DPS, because that is what you can measure with DamageMeters. How can you rate debuffs in DamageMeters? You can't.

An ex-guild member of mine was banned today for the following post.
Whether you happen to agree with this post, or not, it's clear that Blizzard does not want complaints about a rushed-to-market product (WOLK) to interfere with their bottom line. The execs have demanded a November release, and therefore November is when the release shall be!
I am re-posting Solmyr's post in order to demonstrate a simple internet principle: the more people try to censor dissent, the more the dissent grows. Solmyr has neither asked, nor approves of this posting, I chose to do it on my own.
I would ask those people who feel there is a problem with a system that censors honest, useful dissent to repost this post again when I, too, am banned. Twice.
Note that the post was NOT spammed in any way (check the forums to verify this yourself) - the ban is solely for "trolling" (or pointing out the deficiencies in a rushed product):
His ban notice is below.

How else do you explain the "feedback" we are getting from GC? Here's what we know so far from the devs:
1) Mages will do the same "ball-park" DPS as every other class (this is an actual buff).
2) They think FFB was a good thing.
3) They are considering spirit to be useful or stripping our gear of it (but they've backtracked on this)
4) They want to make mages the "kings of AoE" (but haven't responded to any of the AoE feedback)
5) They think mages are happy with where they're at.
6) They may improve mana shield ("thinking about it")
7) They don't want us mindlessly mashing one button (ArcaneBlast), but two is fine (Frostbolt, Icelance).
Cool They are "done" with the class, but may make "coefficient" adjustments.
9) Have not addressed most of the mage concerns conveyed in THEIR feedback requested thread.

With the latest patch Blizzard gave the death blow to holy paladins, they can just as well remove them from the game now since they will be pointless.
