Model changes for Varimathras and Alexstrasza

Alexstrasza does, however, show even more skin than Sylvanas does, so from some peoples' perspectives this might be a feature rather than a bug.Varimathras is a nice update although he retains his old animations and emotes (you can't really see it from the perspective of the screenshot above, but I think his legs and hooves are a significant improvement on the shaky anatomy of the current dreadlord model). Both he and Alexstrasza's changes are somewhat less shocking than the complete overhaul to Wrynn and Sylvanas, but we're still pleased to see Blizzard taking an interest in the visual badassery of major faction leaders and NPC's. I would tend to agree with Zach Yonzon's contention that it would be amazing to see an update to all the faction leaders if Blizzard could swing it at some point, although I have the sneaking suspicion, judging from what CM's have said about the difficulty of programming in new Druid forms, that this is a fairly lengthy process. However, after seeing the model changes in the beta, I don't think anyone's going to argue it's not worth it, and a number of people have argued for player model changes as well. The extraordinary design work in Northrend will probably add fuel to that fire.

"She still looks like just a BE but now she looks like a whore. That is not right."
You don't like whores, then?

Holy crap - Alex is just...
God.
Aldheim Oct 1st 2008 1:42PM
Ugh. Yes, it's sexy. It's also kinda degrading. I don't think our female boss-type figures really need this in order to have attractive models.
jay Oct 1st 2008 5:12PM
Yes they do, fantasy ftw.
Zoidberg Oct 1st 2008 1:51PM
Is Alex's cloak really transluscent?
Neil Oct 1st 2008 1:54PM
I have absolutely nothing against attractive women (I'm all for them!) but seriously? Alextrasza the Life-binder, Queen of Dragons, is wearing lingerie and thigh-high boots. That is just ridiculous. How am I supposed to take one of the most powerful figures in lore seriously when she wouldn't seem out of place in a Frederick's catalog?
Scale mail would look awesome on her, and would fit with the dragon motif. Heck, put her in full plate for extra badass. But this skimpy crap has gotta go.
Alix Oct 1st 2008 2:24PM
I completely agree! I was infuriated when I saw this. Alexstraza is a noble, motherly figure. WTF is she doing in lingerie?!
Dightkuz Oct 1st 2008 2:01PM
Now just give model changes for the rest of the race bosses
prudychick Oct 1st 2008 2:11PM
It looks as though Varian has been hitting Just For Men. Apparently he doesn't like being blonde like he was as a child and as his father is.
Liel Oct 1st 2008 2:41PM
Does it look like they upped the polygon count? The models seem a bit smoother unless the person cranked up the AA on his video card for the screenshot.
Barnister Oct 1st 2008 2:47PM
Varimathras looks like Wolverine in feral rage and on steroids combined.
Lemons Oct 1st 2008 2:49PM
Alright who's hotter Alexstrasza or Sylvanas?
Vote...neow!
I'm voting for Alexstrasza because...I mean...wow...
Eisengel Oct 1st 2008 2:52PM
I think Alexstrasza may need to research the human form a bit more... the vital organs that need to be protected by armor are not in the hands, forearms, thighs, legs, and feet, but are actually in that big tube in the middle that all the interesting bits are stuck on to, as well as the head. :^) I would presume that wearing armor plate over those aforementioned 'interesting bits' would cause a lot of chafing, and be rather cold, stiff and generally uncomfortable. If some enterprising female has actually built and worn plate underwear, they can correct me.
.... however... being she is Queen of all Dragons, Guardian of Life, and quite nearly a demigod in her own right... I'm going to guess she doesn't quite need pieces of metal to protect her, and she could easily shapeshift improvements to her physical form to fit her sense of style... rather than changing her sense of style to fit her form.
Amonra Oct 1st 2008 3:00PM
well, alexstrzasza sure does looks like a skimpy bimbo now, but we soul remember that in dragon form she flies naked every day, maeby dragons have diferent sense of pudor. If you think it right shes not even hiding her dragon-being (horns!!) so why follow human conventions? not like shes hiding her true identity, in light of that, she could even walk naked through wyrmrest temple. At least in humanoid form she wears clothes.
lolwut Oct 1st 2008 3:01PM
Alex is jailbait, no doubt about it...
Skarlette Oct 1st 2008 10:53PM
If you consider one of the oldest beings on Azeroth to be jailbait...
Candina@WH Oct 1st 2008 3:04PM
OK. As a former 'western european martial arts' guy. (thats medieval european armour and weapons), I would like to see female armour that is actually.. you know... armour.
I am all for scantily unclad women (yeah nekkid girls!), but... please for the love of mike, give the warrior women some armour.
G-string armour won't protect you from a cold!
Lysdexia Oct 1st 2008 3:27PM
Pretty sure the Vrykul Ladies aren't scantily clad...
Alex just likes to look good I guess

Alexstrasza is, in essence, an aspect of life. There's nothing wrong or dirty about incorporating sexuality into her human form. Mind you, I doubt this was taken into consideration when designing her but the cries of "put on some clothes" seem to come from some other line of reasoning.
