Model changes for Varimathras and Alexstrasza

Alexstrasza does, however, show even more skin than Sylvanas does, so from some peoples' perspectives this might be a feature rather than a bug.Varimathras is a nice update although he retains his old animations and emotes (you can't really see it from the perspective of the screenshot above, but I think his legs and hooves are a significant improvement on the shaky anatomy of the current dreadlord model). Both he and Alexstrasza's changes are somewhat less shocking than the complete overhaul to Wrynn and Sylvanas, but we're still pleased to see Blizzard taking an interest in the visual badassery of major faction leaders and NPC's. I would tend to agree with Zach Yonzon's contention that it would be amazing to see an update to all the faction leaders if Blizzard could swing it at some point, although I have the sneaking suspicion, judging from what CM's have said about the difficulty of programming in new Druid forms, that this is a fairly lengthy process. However, after seeing the model changes in the beta, I don't think anyone's going to argue it's not worth it, and a number of people have argued for player model changes as well. The extraordinary design work in Northrend will probably add fuel to that fire.

Oh I get it, so they aren't called Strippers, they're called "Aspects of Life"? Being the maintainer of life in Azeroth doesn't mean you dress you were on a budget. Plus an Aspect wouldn't dress skimpy like every singe player female in the game. Also, have you seen Dragonblight? It's kinda cold.

Wish they could've done a little bit more that just using a BE for Alex, but still looks bad ass nonetheless.
Only problem I have is with Varimathras, WTF is up with those sideburns man. Don't think I've every seen a demon wear sideburns. Please Blizz, make Big V not look so much like he's from the White-trash Legion instead of the Buring Legion.

Alex looks like a cheap whore....sigh...not a badass dragon in elf form

Okay, who was the smart-arse who gave Azazel1944 a job at the art-department at WOTLK?

Yeah, I saw this in first-person on the beta before bed and was a bit appalled. There was a CROWD of people, to the front and back of her, going "I'd fuck it!" "shit, thats sexy" "o yeah!". It just made me want to bang my head against the nearest pillar. I liked the old model way, way better.
The horns are a nice touch to relate her to her dragon form but... come on! It's a THONG. A metal THONG in the middle of freaking Northrend. @_@
I hate to play the Rawr Angry Feminist card, but I've seen the pictures of her old model and was very impressed. She looked regal, kind, patient, all the things she's supposed to be. Now, she just looks like another elf for the fanboys and whatever designer came up with this to fap to.
She's the Aspect of Life. Not the Aspect of Victoria's Secret. -_- It's a sad day in hell when I respect the Banshee Queen more than the Queen of the Dragons because one has pants on.

Simply for argument's sake, the armor and the humanoid shape are both illusions. It's doubtful the chilly Northerend air bothers the aspects much.
And while I agree that the design probably had more to do with fan boys than character, it still makes sense to me that the aspect of life would not be ashamed of her own sexuality (which is rather important to life, after all).
Krasus, on the other hand, is a bit beefier than I remember his descriptions indicating. Maybe he got tired of his haggard old mage look?

I agree with everything you said.

She's nice.
and I don't care at all about cloth-troll in a fantasy.

Korialstrasz must be happy about these changes.
clawhammr Oct 1st 2008 6:24PM
Problably gonna change his model to one big smiley face next beta patch then :P

Va va voom!
re: Varimathras
Love the mutton chops. Gives him a bit of a Hell Boy-ish look.

She's an uber-powerful draconic being. She can look like whatever she wants. So she's got a bit of a skanky-side...do you want to argue with her?
Heh, seriously, there's nothing in any of the Blizzard art that isn't over the top. Males are overly muscular and often dressed to show it. Females voluptuous and scantily clad.
If you want realism, I dunno, try Second Life.

One of my friend did that; he ran a brothel...

Varimathras looks pretty damn cool. I love the mutton chops. I like Alexstrasza outfit(it's so hot) but she needs a better skin color. And what's with those things sticking out of their head. I love all these remodels they are doing. They look great.
Sorta Oct 1st 2008 11:05PM
Kinda looks like Peggy Bundy. Still she's a QILF.
pewpewpew Oct 2nd 2008 7:19AM
Alexstrasza looks pretty good imo. Sure, she's a bit scantily clad (esp. for northrend) but this is a game. I would be shocked (not good shocked, either) to see (real) women in the street dressed as she is, but this is, after all, a game. A game which has always exaggerated things.
The only change i would make is to change the colour of the armour slightly, make it more red, instead of bubblegum pink.
Cameroo Oct 2nd 2008 5:20AM
I'm not going to touch the sexist implications here, but I do like the look over all of Alexstraza's humanoid form. In my minds eye I did see her less sexed up and more matronly also, but after all it is a fantasy game so I'm not suprised certain liberties where taken with her look.
As far as the chainmail bikini thing goes; I don't think a being that can instantly transform into a 100+ foot tll rampageing deathbringer would be to worried about form over function in they're choice of atire.
nekolux Nov 9th 2008 2:56PM
Alexstrasza is so hawt.... now i get why all those consorts are willing to share her between each other rofl
