Divine Plea changed once more
Last night's beta patch introduced a quite absurd change to Divine Plea (which you can see in the tooltip there), rendering it more or less worthless for Holy Paladins, useful only to Retribution and Protection. In one of the faster turnarounds in the beta, Ghostcrawler has already posted a new version of the spell.
In response to player feedback (mana issues, boredom) Divine Plea will now only reduce your healing by 20% (instead of this patch's 100%), but the tradeoff is that it will be able to be dispelled. As someone who primarily plays PvE, this seems like a much, much better version of the spell. I mean, come on. Last night's version of the spell was, "You take a nap for 15 seconds while some of your mana comes back." That's not exactly how you make an engaging and entertaining class. People who PvP heavily may disagree with me, but I'm not sure. I have a feeling naptime is as unwelcome in PvP as it is in PvE.
Paladins also seem to be concerned about mobility while healing. There are some potential changes that could come, but Ghostcrawler and the developers seem to want to see the current state of things in action a little more before they make any updates there.

Quoting Ghost's post:
"However, we still like Bacon of Light,"
I love that typo.
Alysandir Oct 1st 2008 9:31PM
Not a typo. She has been calling it "bacon" for weeks now. Pretty telling when even the blues make fun of your talents...

It's also pretty telling how unfortunate that you lack a sense of humour, Alys.

One of the reasons I hardly ever listen to blue posts is because I think most of the developers for World of Warcraft (not necessarily Blizzard as a whole) are complete and utter morons.
We're the games players, we should know what is good and bad for a class. It's not like we were asking for something so drastic (I wasn't asking for it at all, I just agreed it was a crappy change for Divine Plea).

That's just the thing... you don't. Well 99.99% of players don't. You have to look everything in a broad picture, every impact of every little change.
Besides, that's why it's the beta/ptr, so they can fiddle around and change stuff willy nilly until it feels right.

It's good to hear the devs are satisfied with Bacon of Light. I know I certainly would be.

(No it didn't, Insider's comment system is just garbage)

"You take a nap for 15 seconds while some of your mana comes back."
I thought that's why people played paladins in the first place, to avoid having all those confusing buttons and such. I know I slept through about 30 levels.

Waiter, I'll have a Bacon Of Light with a side of Barbecued Retribution Ribs, Tankadin Caesar Salad, and a Scarlet Crusade Soda. What's for dessert? =D
Sothael Oct 2nd 2008 3:19AM
If you only ate the ribs? Lulzcream.
If you touched anything else? TUMS to combat the indigestion as the respective specs lack of flavor and nutritional value turn the tables and gut you in the manner Blizzard has gutted them.

Good luck finding healers in WOTLK, the way Blizz has messed up healing mechanics overall with the change to mana regen.
They said less AE dmg in WOTLK, BS, more AE damage again in WOTLK.
Healers like Holy Pallys will be useless again in WOTLK and less people will play them.
We'll see a bigger shortage of healers in WOTLK.
Andelorn Oct 2nd 2008 6:42AM
I'm a priest healer, and I'm playing WotLK.
Good riddance to those damn pally healers who seemed like they could spam quicker heals than my GH indefinitely, making me look bad on the healing charts because my heals got there after 3 or 4 pallies had already flashed the target to full health. :P

You can dispell innervate, why should this spell be any different?
felby Oct 2nd 2008 12:35AM
comparing class abilities like that have always been and always will be utterly silly

Pointless comments like this have always been and always be utterly silly.

You shouldread the epic post made by Fortch on the beta forums. A very long read but an excellent account (no BS he makes some really great points) of what has been happening with the holy spec for the past few years.
To which Ghost Crawler responded...
"Yes, we have many Holy paladins too. You'd be surprised who they are. We talk about their issues all the time.
You had some thoughtful things to say in your post, but your tone and subject are over the top. Try again and maybe you'll get a better response."
CMs get their feelings hurt and they're allowed to respond to their paying customers like this?
elprogramer Oct 2nd 2008 2:32AM
Eh, considering the jackassery that goes on on those forums, I stopped caring. God forbid people actually test the game without ranting or crying like a spoiled child.
Tridus Oct 2nd 2008 3:31AM
You've clearly never played GalCiv2. The President of Stardock has come to the forum and told trolls to take a refund and get lost before.
Its quite refreshing actually. Most of the people on the official forums act like whiny children. Talking to Blizzard like they're actual people rather then the enemy gets a much better response.
In fact, I'd rather they go a step further and rather then just tell people to play nice, they actively get rid of the problematic people. Some mass bans would make those forums a LOT better.
