Patch 3.0.2 release date revealed
If you remember from yesterday, various developers and CMs posted across the official WoW forums that Season 4 will be mostly ending on the day patch 3.0.2 is released. Today, Nethaera posted some additional information: Season 4 will end on October 14th. It was not explicitly stated by Nethaera that patch 3.0.2 will be that day, but two plus two equals four, you know? This is pretty much exactly in line with the date most of us have been guessing here at WoW Insider, but let's be honest. It wasn't hard to figure out, and I'm sure all of you guys were thinking much the same thing. It'll be almost exactly one month between patch 3.0.2 and the release of Wrath of the Lich King on November 13th. It will also be after BlizzCon and not before it, so if anything goes wrong their lead devs can jump right back into work instead of needing to worry about the convention.
So start marking your calendars, ladies and gents. October 9th, WoW Insider meet at the Lost Bar. October 10th and 11th, BlizzCon. October 14th, Patch 3.0.2. November 13th, Wrath of the Lich King.
[ Thanks, Shawn! ]

How exactly 51 point talents, that are not balanced at level 70, will let you to make judgements about balance in Wrath?

I agree with naix. My elemental shammy in Season 1 Glads did Kara (yes it's horrible I know), and Out-dps'd more than one mage in that fancy spellcloth tailoring junk... once Merciless went down to honor/marks, the dps leveled out (since I refuse to grind a WHOLE new set before wrath). But anyway... Even doing 5-mans with a pally, priest, spriest, and mage, the only one that had a shot of out-dpsing my shammy was the spriest and that's cuz he waayy out-geared me. I won't lie either... I spam lightning bolt and chain lightning and chug mana pots like nobodys business. :D

Goody, now I know exactly how much longer I will have to endure my guild struggling to do a timed ZA run in T4-5 gear so that the GM can ninja the bear mount for himself.
Cant wait til the expac so I can dump this guild for a better raiding guild.

I play a shaman and I feel the balance is fine. We are a hybrid class, good at multiple things, master of none. Anyhow, I cant wait for the patch, I get hots and more leet heals.
Naix Oct 1st 2008 12:39PM
Pure classes should never want anything a hybrid class has talent wise. My holy priest would die for half the talents Shamans get in their resto tree.
xeren Oct 1st 2008 1:17PM
that's pretty flawed logic, naix. what class wouldn't want to have all of the other abilities of every other class, in addition to their own?
jbodar Oct 1st 2008 7:08PM
@xeren
Way to miss the point. He meant that a "pure" healer should not want the 51 pt talent in the HEALING tree of a hybrid class. The truth of his assessment is up for debate though, since every class can, in theory, DPS. Shamans just get 2 ways to DPS (melee and ranged) in addition to healing.

Cool. Two weeks to down Gruul and Mag. I think I can get it done.

So that means likely at most only one more build before we're seeing the final patch on PTR... Damn and they just nerfed the damage on Deep Freeze... I hope they put it back:)

I absolutely cannot wait for the Prot Warr changes.
Latest build doubled the damage of Revenge, upped Shield Slam damage, and removed target limit on Thunderclap. I'm bouncing off the walls!

Questions that I think you've answered, but if not, please do:
When the patch is released, will the Onyxia attunement be removed from the game? ie, should I finish it now if I want the neckpiece and the thrill of attunement?
When the patch is released, will the Quel'danas dailies still give the same gold amount rewards, or will they not be reduced till Wrath comes out?

I'm following the patch information for the same reason, and yes next patch Onyxia attunement (for the alliance) gets removed, so you have about 2 weeks to finish it.
Quests reward as much gold as they do at 70 to compensate for the fact that you don't get experience for them. So you should get the same amount until you can level past 70.

Every WoW player says every class is over powered or not balanced, or complains about nerfs. Everyone whines and complains. Though, the people who don't post on the WoW forums usually don't have any complaints. Most of the posters only make 10% of the WoW community, if even that. If it's not 10%, then it's still a low percentage. People just whine too much, and want everything on easy-mode. I like a challenge, so I look forward to all the nerfs and changes. Adapting, and changing my play style to work with new changes is what's fun.

Personally I'm looking forward to the patch with or without balance/bug fixes. For a number of reasons:
1) I'm far more concerned about balance in Wrath than in BC at this point, considering we only have a monthish left of the latter. Therefore, getting people to interact with the changes and get hard data on the issues is a good thing.
2) I don't think I can wait a month for my server to stop being a wasteland.
3) I want my new talents, badly. They may not all be perfect, and some of them might be terrible (lol Wild Growth), but I'd rather have them than not.
4) I'm looking forward to using my stockpiles of herbs to becomes the guild scribe overnight. Hey, I'm already the most loquacious and well written person in the guild, it fits!

Do you have any proof of that or just farting with your mouth?
wwsscoreboard.com summarizes the result of tens of thousands of raids, and guess what some classes really do have reasons to complain. After 2 years of BC and you guys thing they will balance classes in 2 weeks. N00bs.

I can't recall what was stated before, so please don't flame me for being a noob. With Season 4 ending, does that mean all the Arena teams will be disbanded and no more arena points/items will be available? Or does it just mean titles will be handed out and we'll still be able to do our matches and accumulate points? I ask this because I need about two more weeks to get my leggings.
Bootsanator Oct 1st 2008 1:51PM
titles/drakes will be handed out, but you can still arena for points.
