Jay Mohr and Patton Oswalt to headline BlizzCon
WoW Insider has learned that funny men Jay Mohr and Patton Oswalt will be performing various shticks at BlizzCon this year. Oswalt is a new face this year at BlizzCon, while Mohr has participated in the event before. Both comedians will be part of the many activities and events going on at this year's sold out convention, to be held next week in Anaheim, C.A. Blizzard has posted a new page with various activities that will be going on at the con that you can check out for more information. An exact schedule of panels and other events has yet to be released.
Also updated on the official Blizzard site is a handy BlizzCon Survival Guide. Perhaps the most important advice given in the guide is to get the BlizzCon badges early. According to the guide, the badges can pick them up as early as Thursday between 4 and 10 p.m.
For those that were unable to get tickets, the entire convention will be broadcast live on DirecTV. WoW Insider and the Joystiq network will be out at BlizzCon this year in force, covering everything that happens. We hope to see you there!

Cool beans.
Though, I've never heard of "Anneheim" before....

YES! I love Patton Oswalt! I won't be going to Blizzcon, but I'll be seeing him in February so maybe he'll talk about it, idk, I just love Patton Oswalt.

We were pleasantly surprised at the job Jay Mohr did last year. Aside from the clips which made it 'round the Interwebs, his banter between segments was actually pretty good. I only saw him mispronounce something once, for which he received immediate "feedback" from the audience. But he did so with good humor.
Patton Oswalt tends to have a more acerbic sense of humor. It's damn funny for celebrity roasts, but I hope he doesn't end up digging a hole for himself too quickly in front of a bunch of gamers. It will be interesting, anyway.

I heard Mohr was awful last year, but that was partly because his comedy had to be toned down to be more all ages? I recall the few jokes he made before the concert fell pretty flat and just weren't really worthwhile.

Sure, it was age appropriate comedy material, but it wasnt bad at all. He did a good job feigning interest while MCing all the events.
The problem with his "concert" was that the audience was 100% disrespectful to him and actually shut down the event for a few minutes at one point. It was the most embarrassing thing ive ever witnessed, to be quite honest.
Imagine the worst, most stereotypical barrens chat you can think of. Now imagine that happening in real life while a guy is trying to entertain a few thousand people for 20 minutes.
There had better not be a repeat this year.

Yeah, I was pretty embarrassed at the behavior at the concert. I thought he handled it well, but the crowd was still fairly rude. Maybe he's played a bit in the last year and will be able to relate to people better. I don't know, I thought he was pretty funny.

Patton Oswalt was there last year and sucked BIG time!!! Ya i agree hes funny and all but since hes not a gamer and hes trying to make fun of gamers... It didn't go over to well. Sorry blizz I'll pass... Get Jerry Seinfeld or Dane Cook real comedians!
Keylogger Oct 2nd 2008 8:58PM
Oswalt was NOT there last year, way to be observant with your opinions....also, lol @ "real comedian" Dane Cook
ZaVaZ Oct 2nd 2008 9:04PM
Ya it was the other Guy... See hes that big of an "Actor" that I remembered his name (ya right)... He was So bad that people was walking out of the area ...
And ya Dane Cook is Funny... Funnier than Jay Mohr at least.
TheKarmaPolice Oct 2nd 2008 9:40PM
Dane Cook funny?
What are you, 12?
And Patton Oswalt is a great stand up comic
He's a geek too, so don't worry he'll find some appropriate material
Markymark Oct 2nd 2008 9:59PM
Lol, I'm mad you said a real comedian like Dane Cook. Dane Cook is probably one of the biggest D-bags on the planet. You really must be like 12 if you like simple dirty joke and stories/ man made sound effects and hand gestures.
ZaVaZ Oct 2nd 2008 10:01PM
No I'm not 12, I like Dane Cook and other Comedians... Comedy is like Ice Cream Not everyone like the same flavor.
Jay Mohr was there last year and was not funny... not at all. only 1 joke struck me as "funny".
Now Patton Oswalt is Funny, and is somewhat of a nerd i know that... I got the names mixed up. This is Why Blizzard employs Video Games Live to play and not a specific bands or groups. Not everyone like TOOL, Hanna Montana or Dave Matthews. But nearly everyone can respect gaming music whos playing WoW.
My point is that with Jay Mohr being as bad as he was yet hes returning. I am however glad to see Patton Oswalt. Ill make up my mind when I see them In Anaheim when I go to Blizzcon.

POWER TO THE FORSAKEN!

do either of them actually play wow? They should have gotten someone like Nyhm instead of these guys, I'm guessing the next hosts are going to be Tim McGraw and Paris Hilton.
Oh well, at least Patton Oswalt is funny, but idk what Jay Mhor is...a guy...who's famous?
Travis Green Oct 2nd 2008 11:41PM
Two words... Brian Posehn!
supersaint Oct 3rd 2008 12:49AM
Why would anybody be going to hear comedians anyway?
Fletch Oct 3rd 2008 3:51AM
I've not heard of these people, but for the sake of the audience I hope Perry Gatner, the resident comic at the World's End Inn was not modelled on either of them.
Clink Oct 3rd 2008 4:11AM
I'm very surprised that they decided to bring Jay Mohr back. I and everyone else I talked to thought he bombed at last year's Blizzcon.
Newman Oct 3rd 2008 4:31AM
Hacks!!!!!
Milktub Oct 3rd 2008 9:28AM
Patton? Good.
Jay Mohr? Well, I suppose he's proof that you don't need to be exceptionally talented, charismatic, pleasant, attractive, sharp, witty or any other positive attributes to get a steady gig.
