Patch 3.0.2: Echoes of Doom

From the North, a cold wind blows, and brings with it Echoes of Doom. A king is ready, after all these years, to return to his people...
Blizzard has named the last content patch before Wrath of the Lich King -- it's "Echoes of Doom." They've created a page for patch 3.0.2 in their Under Development section, and all of the features we've become familiar with over the past few months -- from Inscription to two new Arenas (no mention yet of the new battleground, unless they just meant Wintergrasp) and lots of UI modifications -- are listed right there as ready to go in with the new patch.
The page still seems like a placeholder, though, so expect to see it changed over the next two weeks or so -- we'll see more detailed patch notes, of course, near release, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some information about the World Event that will likely kick off Wrath. "Echoes of Doom" -- are you excited?
Update: WoW Insider has obtained this exclusive video of what the new patch may be like.

I really like the patch name :P

I like the name too, it will make the exact moment that wow stated its downward spiral into oblivion easy to remember.
I really don't remember BC prepatch being anywhere close to this much of a mess this close to release.

Doooooooooooooooooooooom!
Maybe it's just me but I can't take that word seriously anymore.

"I really don't remember BC prepatch being anywhere close to this much of a mess this close to release."
You can blame Activision for this.

faka Oct 2nd 2008 11:43AM
doom indeed....for the shaman class.
VSUReaper Oct 2nd 2008 11:47AM
Can you be any more negative???
*shakes head in disgust and walks away*
Naix Oct 2nd 2008 1:17PM
Doom? I think you mean OPering. The Shaman class is getting the best buffs hands down. No other class is going to be as powerful as the Shaman class.
Ikarus Oct 2nd 2008 2:15PM
Naix you've said that several times now on several different article. Even though people who play shamans (i have a 70) keep telling you your huffing glue. Shamans are not anywhere near OP in wrath. There are still some much needed changes speaking from an elemental stand point. I can't speak for resto and enhance but i get the feeling they are generally unhappy with where things stand.
You might have read abuot this or that spell and it sounds really op (ala thunderstorm), but roll a shammy and you'll find out the truth

Sounds good to me. Can't wait for it! :)

Hmm, "Echoes of Doom"... as we watch Patch Day loom closer and closer with many broken abilities and talents?
;-)

So...does this pretty much mean the dance studios aren't coming out with the patch?
Ah well...still lots of cool stuff.
Amaxe Oct 2nd 2008 12:19PM
I had hoped for the Dance Studios as well.
I agree though that there are things that make it sound like fun... I just hope and pray it does not come to us in a mess. I know Elitist Jerks is not at all happy with the Shaman math for example (I was disappointed by the nerf to the Maelstrom Weapon, Flurry, Improved Stormstrike and Dual Wield Specialization), and I hear some other classes still need some major work.
I hope we can have some sense of finality so I can plan my new spec with accurate information

I was also wondering where the Dance Studios went, they're not in the Beta thats for sure, i'm guessing not in the patch either =/
Stoneblade Oct 2nd 2008 1:09PM
eh... Maybe I'm being optimistic, but I figured that something like that might be unveiled at Blizzcon. /shrug

"A king is ready, after all these years, to return to his people..."
Referring to Arthas or Varian?
Great marketing if both are implied.
Aldheim Oct 2nd 2008 12:59PM
I think it is referring to both, and I think that's awesome.
zappo Oct 2nd 2008 12:31PM
Elvis just got a rez actually.
Doffencrag Oct 2nd 2008 1:04PM
"Elvis just got a rez actually."
You can't rez someone who never died. ;)
