The folks at the relatively new
Warcraft Outsiders podcast were kind enough to invite me on their show the other day, and I proceeded to make a mess of things -- one of the hosts got sick, I stayed long after they tried to get rid of me, and I just generally stomped all over any plans they had to do their own show.
The results are now up on their page -- the good news is that John, Michelle, Kyle and I did have a lot of fun, and we got some good discussion in about
the Honor non-wipe, what few addons
I swear by, and what's up with
Varian Wrynn's return to Azeroth (he's actually
wearing Anduin Lothar's belt -- shows you how much attention I pay to the lore stuff, so pay no attention to all the mistakes I make on that part).
It was definitely a good time, and hopefully the show will be as fun to listen to as it was to record. The Outsiders will also have
our good friend and colleague BRK on next week, and they do a nice job. Of course, if you only listen to one
WoW podcast, you should make it the
WoW Insider Show, but if you've got some extra room in your iPod, check them out (they also do a podcast
on videogames in general) and see what you think.
Thanks to everybody over there for having me on, especially since, with our names, we should be
swordfighting in a warehouse or something (Outsiders/Insider -- get it? I totally didn't realize until the very end).

Sweet, a new WoW podcast :)

Haven't had a chance to listen to their Warcraft podcast yet...
But I have listened to the Videogame Outsiders podcast for over a year. They're on episode 144 or so. They're great and they have a interesting perspective on things.

I assume this was an attempt at english. Next time, you might want to try some constructive criticism, you'll get taken more seriously then.
This is hardly a bad podcast. Their sound quality needs some work and at least one of the hosts suffers from an acute case of umm-and-arritis, but there's a lot of potential there and the hosts gel pretty well. I did like their intro very much, very creative, and integrating the intro with the opening schtick is a slick way to do things.

TotalBiscuit it was a quick comment posted from work, sorry if my grammar wasn't that great and my comment wasn't well thought out. My comment was more to direct reader to better podcasts that I like and listen to.
Let’s see about constructive criticism that I have
The girl host seems to know what she is talking about but the other hosts are new players to wow. They are can't really discuss any topic besides starting out in wow and mods. I found their discussion to be somewhat boring for a long time wow player. I'm sure it would be more useful to a new Wow player then to me. I think the podcast would be better if everyone was level 70 then they would have better discussions.
Mike Schramm was the best part of the podcast and he is a major reason why the insider podcast is on my list of best podcast. He made the other two hosts talk more and add more to the conversation. Funny thing is the hosts tried to end the interview a few times and Mike didn't want to go.
It will get better if they play more and come out with a podcast regularly. Something very few podcast do.
TotalBiscuit you need to work on wow radio shows. Most of them I can't even listen to the whole show. No one stays on topic; they are unorganized and are very elitist. Drop-ins are great but a well organized show is better.

Sorry man, but that's objectively and factually wrong. We impose quality standards on all of our shows and our hosts are trained against that sort of thing. The only show I see that needs particular attention is the Happy Hour Tavern, everyone else stays on topic. There are no 'elitist' hosts, there are merely knowledgeable hosts, and our podcasts are not generally aimed at the lowest common denominator. They are not all 'easy listening', and many deal with concepts above the level of understanding and interest of the average WoW players. That's just how we roll, if you want lowest common denominator well, there are plenty of podcasts that do that
Constructive criticism is lovely and all, but it has to actually be true to mean anything. If what you just said was really all that common I'm sure you'd have been able to provide at least one example considering we air around 18 hours of new material every single week.

Their closing song was more than a bit amusing.
"Warcraft warcraft warcraft, Outsiders!"
...
lol sometimes it's just the extra nerdy things that are just hilarious.

Wow...blast from the past with a bit of a twist.
Hiya CoastalMichelle, you came to Zerocommit (Is the site even still around, going?) as I was leaving due to RL time constraints and career change.
Tell Blkdog7 SG says hi and I still owe him a few pineapples.
My favorite adult clan turned podcasters and well known one's at that.
I'll definitely have to add the new WoW podcast to my list.
Michelle Madison Oct 2nd 2008 11:38PM
Hey Suicidal! Yes, Zerocommit.com is still around. John, Kyle and I are actually admins over there but since then blkdog (John) has passed it over to the able hands of Shibdaddy. For those who don't know, its a console video game community for adults.
We actually started up the Video Game Outsiders podcast way back when as a community podcast for zerocommit, but it quickly took on a life of its own, and then expanded to another community (which can be found on videogameoutsiders.com)
which of course.. led us here to Warcraft Outsiders. Our podcast simply about WoW. I do appreciate any criticism from the new folks here who check it out, but I do urge you to keep in mind the whole "outsiders" thing rings true on this show as well. We goof off, we get off topic, we aren't always right - and my co-hosts are extremely casual warcraft players! We all play the game very differently and don't take ourselves too seriously.
Anyway, good seeing you around here! Take care, and I will pass along your hello to John.

Great to have you on the show this week. Your insight brought something new to the show that was really fun to listen too. I'm glad you finally addressed the outsiders/insiders parallel there at the end. It was a real hoot to hear the lights coming on! It'd be great to hear you on with the Outsiders again some time.

Dude, its cool you know about Lothars' belt and stuff, but if you read the comic he clearly picked it up in Ogrimmar, where I guess it was stashed by whichever Hordie ganked Lothar back in Warcraft 2.
Lothar raised him as a child. Its all quite obvious.
