BigRedKitty: Turtle and a new Wasp
Daniel Howell contributes BigRedKitty, a column with strategies, tips and tricks for and about the Hunter class, sprinkled with a healthy dose of completely improper, sometimes libelous, personal commentary.
Turtles have long been the dream of hunters to be viable Tanks. They have a shell, they should mitigate a ton of damage, right?
Wrong. At least not yet, they haven't.
But what if a hunter-developer got his greedy, greasy mitts on a turtle and gave it some pizazz and some chutzpah? Well one might get the turtle in this movie.
And we revisit Wasps. Why? Because they're cool looking and available to all hunter classes, not just 51-point Beastmasters.
(Before you ask, we're still working on a Spirit Beast movie. If you know someone at Blizzard who'll kick one into existence, we'd appreciate the help.)
You are invited to download the YouTube version (75MB) of this movie here, and the full-sized version (419MB) here.
Did you know that BigRedKitty is holding a Gnaked Gnome Race, Saturday, October 4th at 8:00pm EDT? We totally are, and Megan from OutofMana is going to help us! We're giving away a WotLK Beta Key to the winner!
Coldridge Valley to Booty Bay, foshizzle. Are you Gnome enough to try?

There are Rogue articles all over the place, but you have to find them before you can kill... I mean read them.

Every video I watch cracks me up from BRK. Always an entertaining video for sure.

BRK -
On the Rhino video you said Growl was borked (honestly it's been borked since 2.3, but whatever). How is Growl now in Beta now?
Thanks for showing the built-in focus monitor Blizz added, it looks great!

Growl is fine now. Even with a level 75 bear tanking against my 80 Hunter-premade, threat was no major issue, about what a Warrior tank on live would generate.
Plus, some of the pets have HUGE aggro from other sources like Swipe - a bear tanking multiple mobs will hold aggro very nearly as well on those it isn't Growling at as those it is.
Basically, unless something drastically changes, Tenacity pets are going to be really good pocket tanks for all your leveling and grinding needs.

Shell Shield + Bestial Wrath = Mango!

A "hunter developer" as you call it, would be the CHOSEN ONE of the hunter class. We've been waiting years for such a one to come and lead us from the depths of the darkest dimmest caverns of the arena ratings. Alas, he has yet to arrive and there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth and keyboards in the hunter forums for many moons to come.

No offense to BRK, great vids, really, but the coolest thing I saw here wasn't the pets but the little plant elemental that creates its own trail of flora. :)

your voice sounds better now that you are closer to the mic. what audio editor are you using? if you add some compression to the mix you will get a real tight broadcast quality sound.

Heya,
Wouldn't a macro like this be more helpful if you're Tenacity pet was, say, tanking a 5-man dungeon or group quest?
/cast [target=mouseover] Intervene
That would let you mouseover the squishy Priest and Intervene him when he gets healing aggro, and then Intervene the Mage when HE pulls aggro after that, just by mousing over them in the party frame. Admittedly you'd have to keybind it, but I think it'd be great.

Woops...your*, not you're.
