Ask a Beta Tester: More on daily quests and champions
Welcome back to Ask a Beta Tester! I've plugged in more music for you above, this time from Icecrown Glacier. If you're feeling kind, you should go give some love to the guy that posted them later on. For now, though, we're here to answer your Wrath of the Lich King questions!
Sorano asked...
While killing mobs in a dungeon that normally gives rep for a faction, for example: The Wyrmrest Accord, if I am wearing the tabard representing the Warsong Offensive, will I gain reputation for both Wyrmrest Accord and Warsong Offensive at the same time?
Contrary to the original description of the feature, you only get rep with one faction at a time. Personally, I think that's a better design. If you're working on a particular rep, you can still help friends out in random unrelated Wrath dungeons without feeling punished. If you only received half of the rep gains, you would still want to go to Violet Hold for your Kirin Tor rep instead of Utgarde Pinnacle, just for random examples. Going to Utgarde and getting half of the payoff just feels punishing. Feeling punished for helping friends sucks.
If you want to go half and half, you can just take the tabard off halfway through.
To clarify, so we're on the same page: In your example you would only gain Warsong Offensive reputation in dungeons, with the tabard on. If you took it off, you would gain Wyrmrest Accord reputation. Hm, in hindsight, this answer was much easier than my first one.
Locke asked...
Had a question about Old World city guards, will their level be raised from 65 to 75 with he expansion? Or will it remain the same?
Just like with The Burning Crusade, guard levels in capital cities will indeed be going up with the expansion. Capital city guards are level 75, and Goblin guards are level 77.
Vinicius O. E. asked two questions...
Do we have new item suffixes like the ones added in BC like "of the Beast", "of the Invoker", "of the Champion", etc?
I haven't seen any new suffixes, no.
When will the XP needed to level from 60-70 decrease? When patch 3.0.2 is released? WotLK?
Patch 3.0.2 is when that change goes in.
Wroar asked...
Can we get some more information on daily quests? Where are they? How many are there? I believe it was already stated they reward about 30g per quest, but how hard to do are they? And how long do they take?
Yes. Everywhere. A lot. They're easy. They're short. That work?
In all seriousness, there really are a ton of easy ones. Regular daily quests, profession daily quests, PvP daily quests, whatever you want to do. There are a ton of them, and you'll find them all over the place. Icecrown, Storm Peaks, Grizzly Hills, Zul'drak, Dalaran, etc. My personal favorite is the quest where a panther god thing takes over my body and we go wreak havoc on some irritating badgermen.

Please tell me there is gonna be a AH in Dalaran!
If you're okay with me being a complete liar, then yes, there will be an auction house in Dalaran. If you'd rather I didn't lie to you, my answer will be different.

The only thing I dont like about the tabard rep thing is I imagine theres going to be one instance really good for rep gains and everyone will grind the hell out of it and I will be angry it exists. Unless its violet hold. I like the random nature of the bosses you get. I dont think ive seen them all so far
frostymage Oct 4th 2008 4:09PM
with the new championing system . Do you get lower rep if you do a low level dungeon??
Ezzy Oct 4th 2008 4:22PM
It says on the tabard you have to be in a level 80 dungeon. :-(
Maralach Oct 4th 2008 4:23PM
no, you only get rep from lvl 80 instances. lower won't give any rep, with or without tabard.
DwarfWithGun Oct 4th 2008 4:56PM
so, just to confirm, LK non-80 dungeons, unlike BC dungeons like Ramparts that gave rep up to Honored, give no rep at all?
Trilynne Oct 5th 2008 8:40AM
There will be heroics, remember. So even if some of the instances are lower lvl on normal, you could come back to them on Heroic and get rep then, just like the HH and CE instances in Outlands.
Tormentor Oct 4th 2008 4:09PM
NOOO AH?!!?! NOOOOOOO......oooooooo.....ooo...o....
Amaxe Oct 4th 2008 4:44PM
There wasn't one in Shattrath either. I'd be surprised if Blizzard changed that format now.
I think Blizzard wants to have people strolling through IF (or Ogrimar) in their new gear to encourage people to go further.
Cowbane Oct 4th 2008 8:07PM
That's the first actual good reason I got that Blizzard didn't put AHs in shatt...wow...
Tap Oct 4th 2008 10:38PM
They want Dalaran to be like a city, by force people off of their flying mounts, so put a DAMN AH in there so we can hang out there instead of taking a portal to IF/SW/whatever. SHESH!
Taxis Oct 5th 2008 5:03AM
I agree with Amaxe. If there are auction houses in the new worlds, there is no reason for lvl 70/80 people to spend any time in the old world. When I was a young toon the ah is where I always saw the people in the uber strong glowing gear that made me think; "When I get to 70, I can look like that", which made me want to run around and try to get to 70 sooner.
I think its for the best of the game in general that they keep it that way. Its not that hard to go back and forth.
Yeng Oct 5th 2008 11:55AM
Really? I just see bank toons.
Charlie Oct 5th 2008 5:17PM
Its to spread people out, but not because of your reasons IMO.
Personally its just a lag thing. I still know people who can't go through shat because its to laggy. Imagine all the people from UC/Org/SW/IF always staying in shat instead of going back for the AH/Trainers. It would be like Pre-BC IF/Org, times 2, plus all the NPC animations. It would be insane.
My real question is, will there be class trainers and an AH in shat with Wrath?
Neofox Oct 6th 2008 1:10AM
No, there will never be an AH in any of the new endgame areas. Blizzard does this for many reasons. Amaxe is very correct; it is largely to let the low level players, especially those just starting the game, to see what it's like to be max level. It could, I suppose, also have something to do with what Charlie said about spreading people out to cut down on lag. However, I really don't think it's about the lag--I think that's like a perk. The real reason is because Blizzard doesn't want people completely abandoning the capitol cities when they reach high level.
Besides guys, come on! It's seriously not that hard to go back to one of the old cities. Of course, my main is a mage, BUT I do play a few alts, and I have to get around the old fashioned way with them. Anyway, I think Blizz has the city to city thing fairly covered for Wrath: most of you probably know about the ring that ports you to Dalaran. So, once you've got that, you can keep your hearth set at Shatt for the portals to the old cities, and use the ring to "hearth" to Dalaran. Unless of course there will be portals in Dalaran too... which would be nice.

"Unless of course there will be portals in Dalaran too... which would be nice."
There are portals to all the capitals (including Shatt) in Dalaran.

Are they increasing the amount of quests you can have active at any one time? Also, I'm guessing they are upping the amount of dailies you can complete in one day as well?
I've never understood why there is a limit of 25 quests that you can be on at any one time...
h8rain Oct 5th 2008 12:27AM
I would be happy if they either raised the limit or "dailies" had their own list (ie 25 reg and 25 dailies at one time).
palatank Oct 4th 2008 4:44PM
Minimun proffesion level to wrath new recipes?
350 or 375?
dpoyesac Oct 4th 2008 5:41PM
New recipies in WotLK start at 350, at least for Blacksmithing. I'm too lazy to search Wowhead for professions I don't have myself.

I have a question: Will you be able to donate Frostweave to increase your reputation with the old world home factions (Darnassus, Orgrimmar, Darkspear Trolls, ect.)? Or will I still be running Scholomance/Stratholme for runecloth?
Normally I wouldn't be too worried. These days, all you have to do is keep questing and you're close to exaulted before you know it. But I leveled my hunter to 60 way before Burning Crusade, back when quests were giving out 50 rep max.
I'm thinking of grinding to exaulted with the major city factions with her so I'll have a boost trying to get that 50 mount achievement. While I have no problem running the level 60 places over and over again, it'll be really nice if I was able to hand in the bucket loads of frostweave I'll undoubtedly get in Northrend.
