Breakfast Topic: Last minute preparations
When Wrath comes, I'm pretty much abandoning my Druid. He's served me well through Battlegrounds, Arenas, and 10,20, and 40 man raiding, but be it burn out on Druids in general or just the need for the change of pace, he's fallen by the wayside. My Hunter is my main now, and my Death Knight will be a co-main come Wrath of the Lich King. Despite this, I'm actually playing my Druid quite a lot these days. Why? Because I just have to get the Guardian of Cenarius title for him, and I'm still a few thousand points shy of Exalted with Cenarion Circle reputation. It may seem to weird to be putting so much work into a character I'm not going to play for quite a while once Wrath comes out, but I feel like I owe it to him. He still has a rich, ongoing roleplaying backstory, and he's still been through a lot with me. So getting him to the pinnacle of Druidism is easily the best tribute I can think of. So he's in Silithus, slaughtering Twilight Cultists by the bucketload, looking for those Encrypted Twilight Texts.
In addition, of course, I'm preparing for the 3.0.2 patch and Wrath in other ways. I already have enough Bog Lord Tendrils and Unidentified Plant Parts for my Death Knight to get a foothold in Zangarmarsh, and I'm gathering Arrakoa Feathers as well. If I have time, I may also gather a bunch of herbs and let my DK powerlevel inscription.
Now that we're probably about 10 days away from 3.0.2, how are your preparations coming? I know a lot of you probably chimed in with your goals for pre-Wrath a few weeks back.. Are you making any progress on them, or are you like me, scrambling for those last few points of Cenarion Circle reputation before next Tuesday?

I'm looking to finish Netherwing rep (10 bars till exalted) and grind for some of the titles and achievements that can be pro-rated when 3.0.2 comes out. That and get some money for Wrath.
Evi Oct 4th 2008 4:11PM
That's exactly what I'm doing, too.
JBurg Oct 4th 2008 8:15AM
I'm still debating if I'm going to play Wrath or switch over to Warhammer next month, but until them I'm putting in a little more work on my main, which also happens to be a druid. When I first rolled him I always played him as a defender of the Horde, but also a peace maker with the Alliance whenever possible. If I do retire him I'ld like him to get the "Diplomat" title (already got it once 3.0.2 hits) and the "Ambassador" title (still working on this one) before I abandon him.

I'm trying to get a full set of classes to 60 on my server before 3.02 comes out. Don't really want to level in Outland very much with the XP changes looming. Looks like I'll have everything but a rogue ready for the patch.
Vinicius O. E. Oct 4th 2008 10:30PM
I'm doing that too. Currently have a level 60 mage, 60 hunter and a 60 lock parked in Outland. Hopefully I'll guess I'll have a 60 paly there in 2 weeks.

Honestly? Trying to save up gold so my freakin Death Knight got a legs up on earning his flying epic mount and the training for it.
I am gonna wait til my DK hits 80 before I pursue any achivements.

I'm still unclear. My raiding guild has fallen apart, and I'm not entirely convinced I'm going to raid full-time again. I'm preparing a few Achievements for my paladin main (Fire Warden, Brewmaster, Explorer, Ambassador and Argent Champion should be mine when the WotlK parts are done too).
But I haven't made my mind up about alts, and professions especially. Currently, my main is Mining-JC, with a 'main alt' doing disenchanting and tailoring. Now.. my original plan was to drop tailoring and go inscription (meaning I could sell enchants!). But I'm also considering giving my paladin Alchemy-JC (alch. stone and those elixir buffs for alchemists are just so OP, right?). Maybe I need a DK to pick up the Mining part. Hmm.. and Blacksmithing to perhaps make some fancy weapons.
Hmm.. writing about it has actually sort of solved my problem. Thanks, WoWInsider ;)

I'm so close to hiting exalted with Gnomergan, I can taste it. I can't wait to have the Ambassador title...and the ablino Drake mount.
SaintStryfe Oct 4th 2008 9:01AM
I tell ya, running around in Beta, there's a shockingly small number of people with the Ambassador title. I always thought it was considered "Normal" to have exalted with all of 'em. Not at all, as it turns out. Maybe anyone who has it also has flashier titles they prefer, but in a given day in Dalaran, there's only one Ambassador running around: me.

Interesting you're burnt out on druids. I just got the cat form on mine, and am loving it much more than I did my Shaman (which was my previous favorite). I'm sure my Shaman will remain my main since there is no way I will climb 49 levels before Wrath comes out on the druid.
Otherwise it could become my main

I actually finished all my pre-3.0 goals yesterday. Got 10k HKs, enough marks to buy an honor mount, my Champion of the Naaru title, 50 non combat pets, enough completed quests to take care of the Loremaster achievements, and enough basilisk eyes/sunfury/firewing signets to get from 0/36k hated with scryers to exalted in one set of turning in many, many, many quests. Now all I have to do is wait for 3.0 to start doing some of these non-retro achievements.

A hint for you:
Make a macro:
/script SelectGossipAvailableQuest(1)
/script CompleteQuest()
/script GetQuestReward()
Assign it to a button on your mouse other then your right-and-left-clickers (like the center button or one of the extras, if you have a bunch of them). Right click, right click, press the assigned button until you here "Buh-buuummmmmm" then repeat until you're done. When I was grinding Timbermaw it sped up turnins of the necklaces by multitudes.
Heilig Oct 4th 2008 11:55AM
Or just get an addon called AutoTurnin.
Makes rep grinds bearable when all you have to do is click the questgiver and it does the work for you.

I have actually got a fair bit of my goals done. I've leveled my mains' professions to the point that, if the news about the new 350 recipes in Northrend are correct, I can start training new things immediately. In fact, I've even gone to the point of starting to seriously train cooking lately with my main. I doubt I'll be able to hit the very end before my subscription ends (about a month before Wrath) but there ya go. My hunter main has also successfully explored every zone's map - something I've always wanted to do but the upcoming achievement really pushed me to it. My other level 70 character (and pretty much my secondary main) kept himself busy for a while by grinding Darnassus reputation so he could replace his boring horse with a kitty and I thought for a moment if I should hit exalted with all racial capitals before Wrath but eh, no time with all the other characters doing their own things as my current subscription ends soon.
My brand new druid that I've decided to take inscription with in the future probably won't get very far now that I've gone into playing with the other characters again. But he's there.
And finally my tauren shaman did manage to get out of his huge moneyhole and is now doing much better financially. And after a small slump, I've started to enjoy leveling with him again. Nowhere near 70 before Wrath hits but I should be ok, I've got all the time in the world to level all my non-70 characters since I've no interest in starting a death knight as soon as my two mains hit 80.
Twinama Oct 4th 2008 9:21AM
I am trying to hit exalted with the horde. I'm doing this on my belf pali. Its going well, but 10 days or so seems like a short amount of time to finish chomping through revered.
Amaxe Oct 4th 2008 9:54AM
I'm glad they finally made some sort of reward. I did this with the alliance just out of curiousity. So I will have Ambassador when the patch goes live.
Thought about doing Diplomat (have exalted wth Kurenai) but don't have the patience to grind the rest
Marbles Oct 4th 2008 9:24AM
The vast majority of my goals for my Blood Elf Paladin have been met. Have the "Ambassador", "Diplomat" & "Guardian of Cenarius" titles in hand, and should be most of the way through the "Seeker", "Lorekeeper" and "Explorer" titles once Wrath is here.
Have all but 4 cooking recipes (3 from Alliance-only quests and the epic one); most Jewelcrafting recipes. Should have enough bits to get me from Hated to Exalted with Aldor. Have 29 Reputations Exalted already (notable exceptions being Old/High Raids - Hydraxian, Zandalar, Brood, Ashtongue, Sands; and WSG/AB are missing).
Have a lot of unbound minipets on my bankalt (mostly Alliance ones) ready for that.
Current aims:
- kill Magtheridon again (if I can find a group willing to go/take me with them) for the end of Champion of Naaru, before 3.0
- finish the Tier 0.5 chain as far as I can (still missing the Lightforge Breastplate though)
- keep fishing for Mr. Pinchy (been months since I've seen my first/only one).
That's all that springs to mind that I can do NOW. The rest of the Achievements will come after 3.0, along with any troubles that naturally come with the patch.

@jburg, i suggest you try Warhammer before wrath like i did and i bet after a couple of days you will e straight back to wow. I only played 5 or 6 hours on it and it feels inferior from the very start. As for the topic, im just about ready for wrath now ive decided also my Hunter will be my main over my Druid and im working on the last few levels of enchanting then i will be all set.
JBurg Oct 4th 2008 11:14AM
Just to clarify, I'm not so much running to Warhammer as away from WoW. I've been playing WoW for a little over 2 years and a bit of boredom is setting in. I'm also not very happy with way class balance and re-tuning has been going on. I'm waiting to make a final decision once the beta/ptr has stabilized.
The only part of WotLK that I have seen and liked are the cut scenes.
turkeyspit Oct 4th 2008 10:14AM
I've already gotten what I need to earn the Ambassador and Argent Champion titles, but I just can't bring myself to grind Timbermaw Rep to get the Diplomat.
Right now I find myself grinding the Baron for the mount he never drops, just to give myself something to do (I started farming Strat for AD rep and just can't seem to leave).
I also have bags of Ore to give me a jump on some early BS points, and bags of herbs laid aside for my Drood to powerlevel incriptions.
