Ask a Beta Tester: Exotic weapons, furbolgs, and more

CactusHam asked...
I noticed on the Description of the Shaman's Maelstrom Weapon (and maybe its in other places as well, but this is where I saw it) that in addition to requiring axes, maces, staves and daggers it also requires "One handed Exotics, Two Handed Exotics" as well as "miscellaneous". I'm curious about what seems to be a new weapon type? Is this a new weapon type? If so, what classes can use "exotics"? And what exactly is an "exotic?"
Exotic weapons are unique NPC items. If you've ever used something like WoW Modelviewer, the Exotic category contains things such as Maiev's huge chakram thingy or whatever it is. It's not something players will ever get their hands on. It's sort of like the armor sets you see on Wowhead and Thottbot that have the listing of which races can wear it, and races such as Fel Orc and Naga are listed. That doesn't mean we'll get playable Fel Orcs and Naga, it means if they're putting together an NPC that uses those racial models they can use that armor to play dress up with. Fel Orc did technically come into play at the Netherwing Ledge, but meh. Yeah, that's right. Meh.
nist7 asked...
Are they increasing the amount of quests you can have active at any one time? Also, I'm guessing they are upping the amount of dailies you can complete in one day as well?
The limit is still 25 quests in your log, and 25 daily quests per day. They haven't raised any limits.
palatank asked...
What's the minimum profession level to learn new Wrath recipes?
Most professions start at 350 in Wrath of the Lich King. If you're 375 already you can pick up a whole load of new recipes right off the bat. If you're only at 350, you'll be able to learn a couple of new ones to ease you into Wrath's tradeskills. You can always hit wotlk.wowhead.com to be 100% sure if your profession starts at 350 or 355 or whatever, there might be slight differences from tradeskill to tradeskill.
Durana asked...
Will you be able to donate Frostweave to increase your reputation with the old world home factions (Darnassus, Orgrimmar, Darkspear Trolls, ect.)? Or will I still be running Scholomance/Stratholme for runecloth?
I hope you enjoy Stratholme. You're still stuck with Runecloth. Alternatively, you can run Alterac Valley and do the various turn-ins for reputation if you want a change of scenery. No Frostweave turn-ins, though.
stunts01 asked...
If you wear the same faction tabard as the faction dungeon you are running do you receive extra rep?
No.
Sirg asked...
What can you tell us about furbolgs in Northrend? It's one of my favourite races, and I would like to see a faction or some furbolg related quests.
There's quite a bit about Furbolgs in the Grizzly Hills. Not a full faction, but a lot of quests and a lot of history. They've set up shop in an old, failed world tree, Vordrassil. I don't want to spoil too much, so we'll leave it at that.
Vivimord asked...
Any word or sign of Atiesh being implemented in WotLK?
None.
Stigg asked...
What would you say is the best tree for leveling as a druid? Is feral still on top or is moonkin more efficient for leveling?
What do you like playing more? I know that's a terribly cliche question, but that's what it's going to come down to. Feral is very, very good, but Moonkin are pretty great as well. What do you want to play? You can probably get to level 80 without spending any talent points, so just decide what you enjoy most.

Are there any other world pvp objectives, beyond Wintergrasp?
evestraw Oct 6th 2008 2:12PM
does deathknights come with secondary skills level up or do you also have to level fishing cooking first aid form 0 to 350
Xino Oct 6th 2008 2:34PM
First aid is lvled up to around 270 all the others are 0
Deftek Oct 6th 2008 8:58PM
If you wear a reputation tabard in an instance, do you receive growth in both reputations or just the one indicated by your tabard?
Mainman Oct 7th 2008 11:50AM
@Deftek:
No, you can only get rep for one faction at a time in this manner. If you're wearing the tabard of a faction unrelated to your current instance, then you'll only get rep for them. Take the tabard off, and you'll get rep for the instance's normal linked faction. No halfsies.

Um, you can farm Hellfire Peninsula for Runecloth drops quite well unless they changed the drop rate since I hit exalted with all five Alliance factions
Blackhorn Oct 6th 2008 2:17PM
I think the question was more about the possibility of adding Frostweave and Netherweave turn-ins, not the best place to farm runecloth.
It's all moot anyway. You can hit exalted with every city without turning in a single piece of any cloth.
Quests, people. 250 rep per quest, on average, no matter the level.
Kanuris Oct 7th 2008 3:14AM
^ This.
If your struggling for Horde/Alliance faction rep, then grab a beverage, empty some bag space and go lowbie questing. You'll one shot everything that a quest needs and won't ever be able to die unless you go afk for half an hour with 10 angry murlocs beating on you.
You still get the same amount of reputation as you would at the intended level, making lowbie questing faster than grinding runecloth.
Due to people still not realising this, Runecloth does sell quite nicely.

It's worth noting that quests in a race's starting zone mostly award rep exclusively to that race (unless they represent a faction such as steamwheedle, or as in Durotar/Dun Morogh they give 2 sets of rep).
When you strike out into the second zone, most quests award rep to the race who gave the quest and a portion of that rep to all faction races. For example, Silverpine quests would give 250 Undercity rep and an extra 25 (don't know the number) to Silvermoon, Orgrimmar, Darkspear and TB.
Freedomfighter Oct 6th 2008 8:12PM
You know you could just answer the question: is feral or moonkin faster for leveling?
There is an answer, and it has nothing to do with preference. There are some people who prefer leveling and some who don't. Just give people a straight answer
brent Oct 6th 2008 1:20PM
Feral, given equal gear.
Grimgore Oct 6th 2008 1:33PM
I'm sure feral is still going to be on top in terms of pure speed and ease of leveling, if only for the reason that you almost never need to stop to eat/drink. Feral and Balance are probably just fine as far as completing most quests, but for the quests that involve grinding on lots of mobs, or if you just want to grind mobs for the EXP they give on their own, feral would be better. You can just kill, kill, kill with almost zero downtime. Even the more efficient mana-based casters have to stop from time to time to drink if they're taking on mobs in rabid succession.

@ Freedom
It does depend on your taste/preference,
I leveled as moonkin simply because i like it better, cant stand feral-leveling.
Vizzad Oct 6th 2008 2:01PM
he is saying its equal.
(but if you don't understand this plain english either)
he is saying its equal you d!@$h!t.
(better?)

Where does it say equal once?
Most people generally read what is being discussed before making stupid comments
Randal Oct 6th 2008 1:16PM
Please clarify, in a previous Ask someone stated that you did not gain rep for running sub-80 dungeons. Is this the case? If so, it will completely change my group's leveling strategy.
Thank you.
Jaisin Oct 6th 2008 1:42PM
They meant that in reference to championing a faction.
Wearing one faction's tabard in another faction's instance will not grant rep until you are in level 80 dungeons.
Blackhorn Oct 6th 2008 2:20PM
I was soloing Hellfire Ramparts with my warrior and I was getting 1 rep per kill. 10 for bosses. Same for Blood Furnace.
I forgot to check the Heroic rates.

Little hint: Most of the quests involve collecting poop, making compost/fertilizer, and running irrigation piping.

Lol, I had a flash of a wholly un-fun side-game of waiting in the DMV lines for special mount parking permit registrations and repetitive trips to some local county office for building permits and wiring inspections. Hopefully there wont be a highway patrol of some sort making you turn around cause you dont have "traction devices" to go along with your Cold Weather Flying skill.
