Around Azeroth: I'm so bored with the WotLK
See, this is the problem with being in the beta. You do all the new content early, then the slate gets wiped clean at release and you're stuck redoing all the same quests for real in live. Virulina, guild leader of <Avatar> on Doomhammer, has apparently decided to skip live entirely. She finished with everything she wanted to see in Wrath during beta, and has now staked out the position of first in line for a possible Emerald Dream expansion. The queue starts behind the big, angry dragon! Any takers?
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We strongly prefer full screen shots without the UI showing -- use alt-Z to remove it. Please, no more battleground scoreboards.

I had a few friends from the game quit after doing the BC beta. They said they'd already seen everything and didn't want to do it again. I can see how some will do the same thing with LK.
Of course we all know there's more to see with raids, dailies, patches etc. but I can see how they feel that way.

What? they say they saw everything? is that even possible? Plus the server is laggy and it implodes every once and a while. How can they equate that to playing the real game?
Seriously, people play the game to either raid or pvp or maybe sit in shat and spam trade. whatever you're into you can not honestly tell me you've done all there is to do with it in the beta version of the game.

That is why I did not join the beta after getting an invitation. I did not want to level to 80 with the same too twice, and I did not want to "ruin" the new content for myself.
I may very well feel as they do, although I understand why ppl jump at the idea of being in the beta.

True enough, I got a beta invite and I typically only play it to check out changes to my characters and equipment. Regular BC's not holding my attention a lot right now either. I wish games like Gears of War 2 were coming out sooner than the projected dates. I've been pretty bored lately.

That's why I'm doing the boring math-ey stuff now, instead of experiencing all the content beforehand. No quests, only a brief few forays into Naxxramas to learn the fights, and lots and lots of respeccing.

Those people who that feel that way cant be so fond of WoW to begin with, imo.

Exactly my reason I didn't want a beta key.
I joined the PTR to have a preview of "old content, new way" and that don't ruin the game at all for me.

Honestly, It takes a special type of gamer to play beta.
I have a 73 DK, and I am eager to do it all over again for my main character.
AlexW573 Oct 7th 2008 12:09PM
Same, although I only did Borean/DK starting zone (however I'd be happy to go through more, if I wasn't focusing on my main on live for now).
I'm not exactly sure why, but I love being in the beta. Not to see the content ahead of everyone else though. I love getting to test things that will (almost certainly) be HUGE. It's great to have a nice quick way to put feedback in, and it's nice to be able to say "I played in the beta of this game!" once it's out :)

It's exactly why I don't care much to get into the beta, and I even don't look too much into reports and Wowhead changes; I don't want to know every detail of what's coming until it launches, otherwise it'll be like replaying it again.
I'm as curious as the next guy, but I can wait for Nov. 13th just as well.

Just by reading what changes they have made to this point I might be canceling my Wotlk pre-order.
The game doesn't seem to be appealing to me anymore.
Craig R Oct 7th 2008 11:40AM
It could happen.
Level 90 has to happen somewhere, mirite?
Under da sea... under daaa seaaaa

Yeah I was getting bored with what is really just grinding, you grind for levels, you "farm" instances, you grind rep, it's all just grinding with different content. I switched factions the other day and realms, seems to have helped a little. Can't wait for LK would never Beta at this point its all getting to boring. RL is starting to look interesting again!

"See, this is the problem with being in the beta. You do all the new content early, then the slate gets wiped clean at release and you're stuck redoing all the same quests for real in live"
No, actually this is the problem for those in the beta who have run around doing everything when they know full well that they'll just have to start all over again in live.
I have a beta key and I've been in WotLK maybe 3 or 4 times. I did a handful of quests and some running around and, as lag annoys me incredibly, I haven't been back. The whole point in even using the beta for me was just to get a look more than anything else and to see if the expansion would be worth the money, it is.
However, I had no interest in trying to do everything possible because then buying the expansion would be pointless. The other thing to keep in mind is that the beta is just that and changes are constantly coming and going. As such, the game at release is going to be a good bit different. I'm content to wait for the final release than to be going back and forth as this gets a nerf and that skill is added/removed.
As for those who are all done with WotLK and won't buy the expansion... I find it hard to believe. Don't buy the expansion and be stuck at 70 until the next one? Hmmm ...I doubt anyone is going to do that unless they're just giving up WoW altogether.
SgtBaker Oct 7th 2008 1:25PM
Just to reflect the sentiments of many others in this thread - I gave away my beta key to a guildie, didn't want to "spoil" it.
I'm also a somewhat annoyed at myself for visiting, reading and posting at WoWInsider, because it's all been WotLK news for months and months - it feels like I've already lost some of that new car smell - but I have only myself to blame for that.... should probably block WoWInsider at the firewall or something...

That is why people who play beta are dumb.
Especially people who play beta of games they already are playing.
Extremely for people who are still paying 15 a month to play beta?
Someone gets paid to play beta and test stuff.. So your paying? to do someone's job? and your complaining?
If you dont have kiljaedin on farm status u have no reason to be playing beta and they dont pay attention to what you say anyway, grats on wasting a month.
Pewpewlasers! Oct 7th 2008 4:50PM
Technically, you don't have to pay for playing beta. The only requirements was that your account must of been active before a certain date.
I played beta while my subscription was cancelled and so have many other people.
Leviathon Oct 7th 2008 2:05PM
If you get bored of a game like that person from being in the beta then you weren't very into the game in the first place.
