I am really looking forward to tanking with my Death Knight. I just read through the whole Tank Talk page as well, and that just excited me more. I'm probably only going to access 5-mans and 10-mans (oceanic, but on a U.S. realm), and I'd be happy even off-tanking in raids.
Here's the questions I have:
- 2H vs DW: with my vague understanding, 2H seems to be the way to go for tanking to avoid excessive dodges/parries. Is this along the right lines?
- Blood vs Frost vs Unholy specs for tanking: Whilst I lust for Blood, it seems the regen aspect would be redundant in groups (with good healers). It seems a combo Unholy/Frost spec would be better for tanking, with the benefits to the skills you've mentioned such as Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Pestilence and Blood Boil - keeping the threat off healers rather than reducing the healing required. What are your thoughts on this?
- What tips can you give from the perspective of off-tanking? Death Grip (and now the higher-ranged Dark Command) seems well-placed to pull individual mobs out of the main tank's AOE area, and for the DK to act as main-assist in having the DPS take these mobs down as a better-geared tank holds the rest of the pull.
