Yeah, that was my thought exactly. And I also like the FF7 way it's done in that it's an endurance thing. If you make it so you go into the PvE arena and you get Boss X at rating Y, then you just follow strategy Z. (basically farming) I'd like to see it a bit more luck based. You get boss Y, then get a 10 second breather to drink/bandage and then you get the next encounter randomly scaled a bit for difficulty. Point being that you could get some hard chains, or some easy chains and your team would have to have the versatility to defeat a variety of bosses. Have your points scale up the farther in you get.
