It pretty obvious from the percentage of positive (most of them extremely positive) reactions to this idea shows the favor amongst the general WoW populace. Im in favor too btw :Dto the naysayers : if done appropriately, this wont 'destroy' raiding. Most people are not looking for huge badge rewards and 3 uber purplez per mob from these things. What their looking for is something that would be entertaining from a casual PvE perspective that would still allow for progress.an example would be a series of elite fights, possibly random in nature (having multiple tiers of challengers, picked from a random pool for that tier, perhaps sometimes with more then one mob to fight), with the final tier a raid boss, that perhaps could drop a badge for each player as a reward. or 2 or 3 badges. and limit this to once per day (such as a daily quest kinda thing). they key would be to grade the reward in tune with the level of organization and involvement needed. Comparitively, heroics only provide 3-5 badges altogether, take 5 people and organization of a similar kind. But the idea of random mobs add an additional element of difficulty that actually makes it tougher then a heroic instance. Face it, once you understand the elements of the pulls in an instance, its on farm status. Its not like its any tougher at that point then having to run through 4 tiers of elites that are chosen randomly, with a appropriately difficult revamped old world boss.they could even throw in 'boss' weekends, with extra bosses not normally seen during the week show up on a random tier ( or for specific challenges). Or have a weekend top tier competition, where the teams with the highest ratings get to fight the 'weekend' boss. and save certain popular raid bosses for those fights (Onyxia, as an example, revamped appropriately to make her a challenge for a 5 man at that level).I personally think the idea of a random mob and boss is amazing. Imagine sitting with 4 of your best PvE buds, not knowing which boss is going to pop up in front of you :Das you can see there are a host of ways they can limit the rewards to make ti balance-able to the level of difficulty, yet still provide stable growth. And if you think this would make getting badges too 'easy', then you have never done a Kara 'farming' run. Would the arena take less time then Kara? you bet, but your comparing 3-5 badges vs. 22. Its not even a comparison. I would more compare it to heroics, and if you can get a group together for the PvE arena, you can get it together for a heroic. Raids and heroics are in no danger here. It would simply be an alternative to the traditional means, not necessarily a better or easy one.
