WoW Insider's BlizzCon Bingo 2008
Our BlizzCon Bingo game is back for its second year -- last year whether you won or not depended on what you saw, but people mostly were able to complete the necessary five across, with or without the help of the free space. This year, things are a little tougher, mostly because we just don't know what Blizzard is going to do -- will they announce the third expansion? Will they announce a new IP? Will they announce anything, or just treat the whole weekend as a Wrath preview?Whatever happens, make sure you print out your bingo card before you go, and then throughout the weekend, cross off everything that you see on there. If, by the end of the weekend, you've nabbed five across, you win! And while last year, all you won was the satisfaction of seeing something cool, well heck, let's throw something else into the mix -- if you're the first person to personally show me a completed bingo card by the end of the convention, I'll have a prize waiting for you.
And no cheating! Trust us, there'll be plenty of Paladin complaining at the Q&As -- you won't have to go do it yourself.

I'm ignoring the Paladin QQ and substituting "Shaman" just because we Paladin's don't QQ. We make valid and poignant arguments.
Amaxe Oct 8th 2008 9:23AM
To-may-to, To-mah-to
Shamans also have valid arguments.
The QQing label is only used by people who don't care about the issue
Naix Oct 8th 2008 10:06AM
"Shamans also have valid arguments."
Yeah like...
The mob is only knocked back 20 yards!
They are only frogs for a short time!
I can only 2 shot other characters!
Everyone else is getting a mana regen!
Yes. Very valid arguments for the Shamans.
Angus Oct 8th 2008 10:19AM
Paladins QQ plenty.
They also have the weirdest habit of refusing to get behind wanting a buff if it MIGHT be OP...
Shaman QQ is simple.
They want actual issues addressed instead of things utterly unrelated changed in ways that only make sense to wombats. And they want the devs to actually have some sort of understanding of how changes effect the class.
Eyonix stating they are buffing LB and CL by lowering the cast time, but they are nerfing the talent so it was essentially a 17% nerf to damage with no plus was pretty telling in how little they seem to understand the mechanics of the class.

Your sarcasm to the contrary, we do have some valid ones:
Windfury is broken
You need a degree in advanced mathematics to figure out how to do damage effectively
Most of our powers are dependent on one-shottable totems
We have GCDs for spell interrupts that last longer than the enemy's interruption
Shamans do less damage than their caster/melee dps counterparts, and do less heals than their healbot friends
Suck at Arena
Suck at PvP
No aggro dump
*some* of the changes may improve their position (Hex, Windshock) of the Shaman, but it is not clear that it will.
Remember that Shamans are the least played class in the game... makes no sense if they are as OP as you continually assert without proof.

@ Naix
What is it you hate so much about Shamans?
every time I see shamans mentioned in a topic you jump on top of it and say they're OP already.
did the evil Shaman ground your Pom Pyro or something?
Naix Oct 8th 2008 12:00PM
See response below.
Axolotl Oct 8th 2008 9:12AM
I second that Saeverud
revent Oct 8th 2008 9:25AM
If Mike somehow manages to write a post without picking on Paladins some day, Chuck Norris will die.
Saeverud Oct 8th 2008 9:53AM
It had occurred to me afterward that perhaps he meant 'others' complaining about paladins, and not Paladins complaining about Paladins. At which I say. Damn you. We do not need nerfs! Shutup already!
havitech Oct 8th 2008 10:16AM
In that case, add "Paladins QQing about people QQing about Paladins" to the board.
Replex Oct 8th 2008 10:35AM
I think you should add "Blizzard Announces Paid Character Customization" ( http://www.worldofraids.com/news/309.html )
and a Bonus for Allowing Faction Swapping :D
Amaxe Oct 8th 2008 11:15AM
I think faction swapping will eventually come, simply because Blizzard will see it as another money source.
Fredf Oct 8th 2008 8:07PM
And I think we can be fairly certain that warlocks will be brought up, briefly and the only thing said will be "We are currently looking at the class".
vlad Oct 8th 2008 11:57AM
only two cards?
your going to have 20 winners if 40 people play. start making more cards so the result is based on the randomness of the card and not just which of the 40 people yelled bingo first (or payed the most attention).
see you friday mike :O

"Windfury is broken"
It seams to work fine for me when it is dropped.
"Most of our powers are dependent on one-shottable totems"
The mob/person has to deselect you, select the totem, kill the totem, and reselect you. That is roughly 3 seconds of reduced damage to you. With 4 totems out that is 12 seconds of potential reduced damage.
"We have GCDs for spell interrupts that last longer than the enemy's interruption"
Every caster class has that. Soon it will be fixed.
"Shamans do less damage than their caster/melee dps counterparts, and do less heals than their healbot friends"
Hmm I am not seeing that. In fact I see Shamans rocking the dps and healing meters.
"Suck at Arena"
Again I have seen a 5 man Shaman team destroy their opponents.
"Suck at PvP"
See above
"No aggro dump"
Cause you can self rez every 20 minutes if you pull too much agro. Not to mention using agro totems and running until the tank grabs agro back. Everyone should have omen to watch their agro.
"*some* of the changes may improve their position (Hex, Windshock) of the Shaman, but it is not clear that it will."
After watching wrath Shaman videos the new talents clearly demonstrate Shaman power.
"Remember that Shamans are the least played class in the game... makes no sense if they are as OP as you continually assert without proof."
Least played because they are the least understood. My proof is PVE, PVP, and knowing some Shamans. Quite an OP class when played correctly.
Maana Oct 8th 2008 12:58PM
Windfury totem =/= Windfury weapon enchant. And since we can't enchant your weapon with WF how do you know?
There is only one totem that is deemed worth killing, tremor. Anyone who spends more time killing other totems is just asking to die in PvP.
Yeah ok on the 3rd point.
Point 4.... LMAO at any rogue getting beat by shammy DPS and LMAO at any mage/lock getting beat in AoE by any spec shammy. (assuming similar gear levels of course)
You've seen a single 5 man shammy team destroy their opponents. Ok, so what if there are less than 5? what if there is only one shammy on a 5v5?
OK well now I really can't say anything. I give up, I admit defeat. If it truly is possible for 5 shammys to beat 10 people in WSG, 15 in AB, and 25 PLUS all the mobs in AV I have no more room to talk.
btw I would LOOOOVVVVEEEE to see this in a movie, it would really restore my faith in shammys.
It's 40 minutes talented, assuming you bought the reagents and aren't borrowing them from me. If I hit a mob once, ONCE! and do not proc WF then stop attacking ad drop the aggro totem 3 times ( 6 minutes of increasing aggro on the totem and decreasing on me) it might MIGHT pull the mob off. The only way aggro totem can pull hate instantly is initial aggro in which case the shammy is an idiot for attacking before the tank or the tank is a noob and can't get initial aggro.
So you know some shamans and know that they are OP if played correctly. I know some shamans too! One is me! ( OMG!) Can you say the same? Have you leveled a shammy to 70 and done PvP and PvE?

Buff, not totem, dumbass

A hunter or lock can kill them while their pet kills you. It is not a 3 second incident. An instant attack can do it

Six second cooldown for earthshock

So tell me Naix, do your friends tell you "L2P" a lot?

Every hour actually, or 40 minutes with two talent points. Aggro totems don't work the way you think

Go to Elitist Jerks and see what they have to go through
Shamans haven't been OP since vanilla, when WoW fixed the bugs. Compare that the the 100-0 stunlock rogues
Go level a Shaman to 70 before saying we are OP
Naix Oct 8th 2008 2:57PM
"Buff, not totem, dumbass"
No need for nerdrage here. Save that for the arenas. ;)
"A hunter or lock can kill them while their pet kills you. It is not a 3 second incident. An instant attack can do it"
That is still 50% reduced damage you are taking for 3 seconds from just two classes.
"Six second cooldown for earthshock"
It's part of the game, deal with it.
"So tell me Naix, do your friends tell you "L2P" a lot?"
When you top the damage meters you never hear that. Strange.
"Shamans haven't been OP since vanilla, when WoW fixed the bugs. Compare that the the 100-0 stunlock rogues"
Still OP in the right hands.
