WoW Moviewatch: Hoodoo Teleshopping - The Deadmurloc
Seen commercials for the ShamWow? Well, today Kilh Machinima brings you its Azerothian equivalent in Hoodoo Teleshopping - The Deadmurloc(tm), his entry for the BlizzCon movie contest. Be warned: you must reconcile yourself with the idea that, although this version of Azeroth has television, it doesn't have a better way to clean your house than with a rehydrated dead murloc. Hoodoo Teleshopping is a Troll-run version of Home Shopping Network which demos the Deadmurloc product (don't forget the trademark) right before your eyes and shows you how the murlocs are harvested in cartoony, gory detail.
I found the background music to be too distracting, competing with the already-variable levels on the voice acting, so sometimes it was hard to follow the sales pitch especially from the gravelly-voiced Troll salesman. The visuals are well done, though, and the effect of putting the HSN-style border around the image is slick. Kilh says it only took him 4.5 days to finish the production in order to meet the contest deadline. But hey, you can't argue with getting a Big Flat Rock for FREE. Now what would you pay?

The sound WAS a little off (Maybe it was just me, laptop speakers never work that well) but the movie was awesome. It certainly made me chuckle a few times. The fact that trolls run it certainly didn't hinder it either. Trolls FTW!

A very nice, short rump of sillyness. I have to disagree with you on one part tho: the backgrounds made the vid for me. it gave a nice distraction from the plain talking animation of the trolls, hid the lack of voice to movement sync (which is always hard as hell to pull off) and supplied a good amount of the humor.
Over all an excellent show of how you can go with a good idea and make it short and snappy. I only wish he had gone a bit further with the voices to really punch home how ridiculously excited they can act on the HSN.
P.S. Is dat da real Moo Money? O.o

Lighting: good
Concept: good
Score: good
Video blending: good
Audio mix: good
Overall, good; however, there were a few things that I had some issues with.
1) Voice Accent: "Raymond" didn't have the typical accent that we are so accustomed to hearing for trolls - you know, "the island-mon". Rather, he sounded more like what we would expect from some strange gravelly cross between a gnome, dwarf and human. Similary, "Linda" didn't have that accent, but otherwise fit. "Rita" was just plain off - she seemed more like a deep-voiced Draenei in her performance than a female orc.
2) Comprehension. "Norman" was very difficult to understand. It seemed almost as if the audio was sped up to correlate with the animation, instead of slowing the animation down to correlate with the voice. There seemed to be clipping of the audio in many spots, and the audio leveling for "Norman" didn't match the audio leveling of the rest of the characters (too quiet in comparison).
3) With all due respect to Moo Money, she really needed to interject some proper vocal inflection. Her entire performance sounded deadpan, as though she was reading verbatim from a printed script without understanding where she needed to be overly excited about something (as is commonplace in infomercials). This was also a problem with "Rita" and even with "Raymond" in a few spots, though not nearly as noticeable.
Still, both the execution and the video blending were very good and the entire production was most enjoyable! :-)
